The Restoring Hope initiative uses world-first technology and logistical approaches to provide amputees in Gaza with functioning prosthetics in as little as 1.5 hours. This approach has already achieved remarkable milestones, such as enabling a **triple amputee** to both walk and hold a pen within **24 hours**. 📊 Real-World Impact 30 upper-limb Koalaa prosthetics fitted in the first 68 days of deployment of the Mobile Amputee Support Units (MASUs, pronounced “ma-sooz”). 🚴♂️ Driving Innovation  Real-world feedback from Gaza is driving Koalaa’s development of a world-first, fast, strong, lightweight above-elbow prosthetic designed for cycling, powered by the determination and passion of Ginola Ginola, Sarah Fisher, and Dr. Bryan Roberts and others. In Gaza, bicycles are key to accessing food and water due to widespread road destruction. The new prosthetic will make this vital mobility option accessible to more people. Koalaa just landed in its 46th US state!!! I’ve been a bit quiet on here recently as I’ve been spending a lot of time over in America, meeting with clinicians and our other partners - and of course speaking with and getting feedback from our fantastic users across the pond. Just been looking at where our US users are based and it’s blown my mind to see that we are now supporting users to do the things they love, in almost every state in North America!! How cool is that!! And it’s thanks, in no small part, to the incredible clinicians, prosthetists and other organisations we are working with, who are doing such amazing things in this space. This was a unique opportunity for us to meet inspiring prosthetists and rehabilitation specialists, and showcase our innovative products in the #MiddleEast. 🙏 Special thanks to the organising committee for a successful congress. We’re very proud to be one of two UK prosthetics companies supporting amputees as part of the ‘Restoring Hope in Gaza’ project. The initiative, a vision of His Majesty, King Abdullah II Jordan, is the result of a collaboration between the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation and other key partners. The project was conceived and is being led by Life Science Network of the UK, with implementation by the Jordanian Royal Medical Services, and technical innovation brought by Koalaa, Amparo, Adapttech, and Hakeem. The UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that more than 94,000 people have been injured in the current conflict, with one in every 100 Gazans having a life-changing injury. More than 10 children per day, on average, lost limbs in the first three months of the conflict alone, according to Save the Children International. With our easy-fit, comfortable and light-weight below elbow prosthetics, we hope to help people of all ages to regain their independence and adapt to life with a limb difference.
