⭐ Who are the rising star firms for responsible business? ⭐ There has been a lot of movement in how firms rank for responsible business (as seen in our 2024 Annual Report) 7 firms ascended into our top 5% scoring firms this year - see the full list below! 👇

What are the AmLaw 100 firms doing for environmental sustainability? Well...it's a real mixed bag 💡 Half of the AmLaw 100 are not communicating anything about their efforts to support environmental sustainability 💡 When AmLaw firms do communicate about their environmental strategies, the most commonly cited action is having a sustainably certified office building 💡 US firms are also not showing a drive to tackle their firm's main source of emissions: only 2% of AmLaw firms say they have a sustainable business travel policy Planet is the area we have seen firms making most progress over the last year - so there is a huge scope for the US firms to push their sustainability strategies even more And big change is possible in the space of a year - congratulations to Morrison Foerster which is the leading US firms in the Planet category of Lamp House's market analysis. The progress the firm has made in this area over the last 12 months has been outstanding 🤩 (our Annual Report has a case study on what the firm has done so well!)

In spite of legal challenges, risks and pushback, it's encouraging to see that US law firms are making progress on ESG and Sustainability 💡 On average, US firms increased their overall score in Lamp House's Annual Report by 12% 💡 There are also 3 areas where US firms score higher than UK firms: 1️⃣ Women The leading US firms in our analysis for this are Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Morrison Foerster 2️⃣ Ethnic Minorities The leading US firms in our analysis for this are Covington & Burling LLP Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP Ropes & Gray LLP and McGuireWoods LLP 3️⃣ LGBTQ+ The leading US firm in our analysis for this is Winston & Strawn LLP Great to see firms continuing to make strides and developing their strategies for recruiting, progressing and retaining diverse talent 🤟

The legal industry has made incredible progress on responsible business in the last 12 months 👆 27% increase in average scores in the UK 👆12% increase in average scores in the US, despite the extreme pushback to strands of this work, particularly DEI We celebrate some of the firms who have made the biggest increase in our Annual Report.
