In February 2020 the much revered William Hogg LL.M joined us as a consultant in our family team, bringing 40+ years of senior level experience from his practice in prime central London and Cambridge. It became clear that it was a perfect fit so followed his move to partner in 2021.   Recently appointed Vice Chair of the Family Mediators Association (FMA), William is a champion of alternative dispute resolution and mediation and receives high praise from his clients and colleagues for his approach to complex and emotive legal issues involving divorce, finances, and children. Launching in London in 2017, Laurus was founded with a vision to deliver highly personal legal services to individuals in Property, Family, and Legacy.   Abigail Bird joined the firm at it's inception, founding the Legacy team to offer private client services to our clients.   An inspirational leader and role model, Abi's approach challenges the norms of private client law by proactively engaging clients in the important subjects that so many put off or leave too late. We have all seen various challenges over the years in the conveyancing world, usually around SDLT changes. It’s not an easy feat and whether you’re the lawyer, agent, surveyor, broker or client, we all feel impacted by the day to day anxiety of a transaction. I’ve certainly had tough but also very rewarding moments. Now, however, I embark on what I expect to be the biggest (and most rewarding) challenge of them all. Today, I leave (temporarily) the professional world for a very different role of becoming a mum. I want to thank all of my referrers, clients, colleagues and other lawyers I have worked with. Every day is a learning day, which I suspect will not change over the coming months! See you all soon!

Congratulations to Ella Potter for qualifying today as a Solicitor of England and Wales with us at Laurus ⭐️ Ella joined us in September 2021 with a distinction in her legal masters (LLM) and client services experience with highly regarded estate agency Douglas & Gordon. That experience was huge for Ella who quickly put her hard work, intellect, and people skills to use as a paralegal and across all three training seats in our Property, Family, and Legacy teams. Excelling in each Ella has found a calling in family law and qualifies into our award winning family team as solicitor. A word for future solicitor, Megan Mays, who embarked on her SQE apprenticeship this month. The SQE is proving to be a well stuctured and accessible route to qualification and we’re happy to partner with BPP as our preferred training provider. Megan joined us as a legal grad and has progressed through administrative roles to client onboarding and is now clued up on data management, anti money laundering regs, and client service. Now a paralegal in our thriving family team with the mentoring of Steven Gasser, Jacqueline Fitzgerald, and William Hogg LL.M, we’re looking forward to her apprenticeship journey and eventual qualification.
