  • One too many posts about ice swimming?❄️❄️ I just had to share this one as i am blooming buzzing. After an incredibly beautiful if a little scary drive over the Dolomites we arrived in Molveno our home for the World Ice Swimming Championships over the next week. ( My events are towards the end of the week). With its beautiful clear lake at the forefront & Mountains framing it it is going to be one stunning setting. After arriving today.. This happened! Our opening ceremony.. Let the games begin.. Opening ceremony at the 6th Ice Swimming World Championships - Molveno Italy.. https://lnkd.in/eikv2ur5 @international_ice_swimming

  • One of the luxuries I miss from working in an office is the heating. Ever since my home working began with a rude awakening on that fateful day in 2020 i was keen to take on the challenge and retain status quo of the timed heating kicking in to warm the house from 4.00pm. Today the chill bit hard & despite a blanket, a hot water bottle, woolly socks, all the other layers & the knowledge that i thankfully had no video calls diarised, my blue hands won & the boiler fired up at 1.00pm.

  • I was watching the BBC series Traitors tonight with my son & his girlfriend. It’s easy when you know who are the baddies, but from my opinion their character analysis of the participants was spot on. I guess the only unknown was what has been left on the cutting room floor to cloud our judgements. And those emotions were running rampant on the set. Is it a bonus to let your emotions flow while you are keen to be perceived as a leader or should we revisit the stiff upper lip?

  • Do something that stretches you they said! Trust your gut and don't let the fear of failing stop you doing incredible things! The best way to learn life skills is to take yourself out of your comfort zone! I listened.. and a week today I will be in Molveno, Italy registered for my events in the IISA world ice swimming championships.. Not sure what I will learn from the adventure, but will be capturing the new experiences, aim to have a whole heap of fun and it is certainly taking me well out of my comfort zone.

  • Puck Stops Here: Leadership in the Fast Lane I love a game of ice hockey and just home sadly from a defeat to my team but they have had a great run of wins through the festive period. There is something about the speed, and quick decisions which turns a game in seconds. And every second counts. Players are constantly on the move, adapting their strategies and making split-second decisions. This dynamic environment is a great environment for leaders to shine. It got me thinking that comparing the wonderful game to leadership of our young managers is pretty en pointe. Where: * Adaptability is key * Team work makes the dream work * Thrive on decisive actions * Goals can come in quick succession & when it starts getting a little loose out there and you need to realign your focus, * Take a ‘time out’ Ice hockey is more than a sport; it's a masterclass in leadership. By adopting these principles, leaders can inspire their teams to skate to greatness in any arena. • Walt Disney said it like it is - ‘When you wish upon a star Makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires Will come to you’ With a lot of hard work & focus those dreams do come true. I really hope that today you were surrounded by friends, family and the start of making those dreams become reality. When I held my management position learning to delegate was one of my key learnings. Below is a wee outline guide to help new managers experiencing the same. If you are a new manager looking for some support, or you have a new manager in your team looking for some additional guidance, drop us a DM. We'd love to see where we could add value.
