We’re thrilled to announce new productions for 2025, the first season by our new Creative Director Nathan Powell, confirming our position at the forefront of new writing, reaffirming our commitment to creative collaboration, diversity and inclusion, and artist development. Nathan said: “I am so excited for my first season to be underway. Liverpool has been home to me for many years and the city, and its broad artistic community are close to my heart. As a team we at the Everyman and Playhouse will continue our dedication to producing local stories with a national reach and in doing so, championing emerging creative talent, introducing audiences to new forms of storytelling, and breathing a fresh perspective into classic stories.” The first production Takeaway is written by Nathan and will be directed by Amanda Huxtable. A story set in a Liverpool restaurant packed with big laughs, family tensions and pumping tunes, it will play at the Everyman from 26 April to 17 May 2025. Inspired by real animal encounters from around the world The Walrus Has A Right To Adventure is by Wirral playwright Billie Collins. Sweeping three stories from different corners of the globe into a powerful new play about instinct, expectation, identity, and what it means to be truly free, it’s at the Everyman from 12 to 21 June 2025. A new abridged version of the classic love story Romeo and Juliet opens at the Everyman from 13 September to 4 October 2025. Directed by Ellie Hurt, a graduate of Young Everyman Playhouse [YEP] Directors Programme, it promises to be a powerful, potent production stripped back to its brilliant basics. For the three new homegrown productions announced, we’re committed to keeping ticket prices low; with tickets priced from £11 and 64% available at £21 and under. The hope is to ensure theatre remains accessible and affordable, allowing more people to enjoy live performances, and reduce the risk for audiences seeing new plays. As custodians of the Liverpool Playhouse, we’re excited to collaborate with our partners to ensure the Playhouse is here for generations to come and drives forward a vibrant Williamson Square in heart of the city. At the recent event we hosted for Liverpool BID Company to launch the Williamson Square Activation Plan, we shared our vision for a transformed Playhouse in a short video from Nathan Powell, our new Creative Director. The video has been created by SketchBenjamin and we’re grateful to the Liverpool BID Company team for their drone footage and to Radio City for access to the tower. https://lnkd.in/etG3zFtY

On Tuesday we were delighted to host the launch of the Williamson Square Activation Plan in partnership with Liverpool BID. Special thanks to Steve Rotheram, Mayor for Liverpool City Region and David Lord, Director of Property for Liverpool City Council who endorsed the plan which you can read here - https://lnkd.in/eATiSBJ2 Steve Rotheram said: "Williamson Square has long been a cornerstone of our city's history, and the Playhouse is one of our most cherished cultural landmarks. This activation study, which we've backed in partnership with Liverpool BID and the theatre, offers a bold vision for the future. It’s about more than just revitalising the square; it’s about creating a vibrant, accessible space that breathes new life into the Playhouse and the wider city centre. This is a key part of our ongoing regeneration efforts, reinforcing the Liverpool City Region’s place as a powerhouse for the creative industries." We’ll be sharing more on our vision for a transformed Playhouse next week.

LinkedIn! Wow it has been a minute, huh? How are you? Oh good, I am pleased to hear that. What have I been up to you say? Yeesh, you've missed a lot. Where to start? How about I start with most recent, and then fill in the gaps as and when, hmm? Recently the lovely people at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres asked if I would be interested in creating a poster for their upcoming production of The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Obviously I jumped at the chance to work with them again and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The play itself. is awesome and brutal and funny and will run from 21st Sep - 12th Oct. Tickets are on sale Now via their website.

Tell Me How It Ends is 'an incredible and moving piece of theatre' (Better Than Words), 'Sookdeo and Stonelake are perfect in these roles' (North West End) in this 'sweet and sentimental testament to solidarity' (The Guardian), which 'reveals Dowd as a promising new writer with a real flair for showing the messy entanglements of platonic love' (The Stage). Must end Saturday, book now, final four performances >> https://lnkd.in/eTeZSJf9
