Earlier this month, we took two of our IGNITE teams to the regional VEX robotics competition at North Liverpool Academy for the Rapid Relay game 🤖 What an exhilarating day! Despite battery issues and a robot breakdown, our teams finished in 3rd and 4th after intense matches ⚙️ With some adjustments and practice, we're confident we'll make it to the nationals next year! 💻✨ The Studio School’s Computer Science students have just come back from an unforgettable trip to Paris, combining education with the magic of Disneyland! 🇫🇷🎢 During an exclusive seminar, students explored the real-world applications of computing used throughout Disneyland Paris, led by industry experts with behind-the-scenes video insights. The seminar covered: 🔹User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX): Analysing the usability and functionality of the Disneyland Paris website. 🔹 Website Technologies: Understanding HTML, CSS, and server-side scripting used to power the site. 🔹 Modelling & Projection: Exploring how drones, projections, and fireworks are used to create breathtaking nighttime shows. We are incredibly proud of our amazing Arabic teachers, Sara Mallo and Manal Mahjoub, whose inspiring story is featured in Qatar Foundation International's "Journey of an Arabic Educator" series. Sara and Manal, based here at Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and The Studio Liverpool, recognised a need for stronger connections amongst Arabic language educators and took the initiative to co-found the Liverpool Arabic Teacher Council (ATC). This fantastic initiative supports teacher training, shares best practice, and fosters community engagement. From branding and a website to a hugely successful first ATC conference last May, they've built a thriving network. Their work includes a series of educational workshops, a growing Arabic language book library, and even Arabic Week celebrations, where our students immerse themselves in activities that deepen their Arabic language skills. It is wonderful to see both heritage speakers and newcomers strengthening their connection to the language. Sara and Manal's story is a testament to how passionate educators can make a lasting impact.
