New Year’s Eve is always an emotional time for me – I don’t like change, it takes me a while to warm to new things and a new year is no different (I’ll still be writing 2024 as dates for a few months!) It’s a time to say goodbye to 2024 and in our case this year has meant saying goodbye to someone special. There’s hope of course, there’s always hope! Happiness, hope, friendship, love, fun, family and a sprinkling of sadness for those not with us will be felt at our New Year’s Eve party today. It's the lull between Christmas and New Year... Do you have any Boxing Day traditions? A morning run to get the legs moving? A slow start munching the leftovers and watching films? For us it’s always a special day to celebrate an amazing lady’s Birthday – this particular lady is the mum of Linda Owen, Carol Hodgson. She’ll definitely see this because she reads and shares every single social media post we create. She’s the heart of our family and we love celebrating with her at her house where the grandkids go a bit wild, the adults eat, drink and play games and we all get dressed up. Connection, Clarity and Balance are our core values at LMO Bookkeeping Limited. We try to connect with each business owner on a personal level so we can understand pain points. For 13 years I ran a tutoring business alongside studying and working in finance positions. Tutoring children of all ages in science and maths really opened my eyes to the different ways in which people consume new information. It’s this experience that has translated brilliantly to our business that means we strive to connect and communicate clearly with you as a business owner in the way that suits you best. There’s a few ways we’ve modified our services to encourage comfort and connection: WhatsApp submission of receipts – if snapping in accounts software is a bit too overwhelming the first step is to get the receipts to us by picture in WhatsApp. No sensitive documents are ever shared this way though, the client portal is used for those. Emails with simplified lists – there’s the inevitable lists of things that are missing from accounts. To get these to each client in a manageable way is really important to us. Loom videos of reports – If an excel sheet is a bit too much we’ll record a video going through the spreadsheet that you can pause and rewind as many times as possible until you understand them. Video calls to go through your accounts live – there’s a comfort in seeing the body language become more relaxed as I explain things in all different was until they click. A great chance to ask any questions live. In-person meetings – this isn’t for everyone and is a premium service which involves sitting together to get to the nitty gritty (usually with a cuppa and biscuit!) As confidence and experience grows these are usually reduced in frequency Whilst we aim to accommodate each client individually, we understand that there’s gaps in our neurodivergence knowledge – it’s part of our 2025 promise to attend at least 4 courses/seminars/training opportunities around this subject.
