GOOD news! We are thrilled to announce that our children’s residential homes have recently received an overall “good” rating by Ofsted. 💫 Inspectors reported how Willow Rise Residential Services provided its children with the “high-quality, individualised care” required to help them lead fulfilling lives, and children reported feeling “stable and secure” in their homes. Hear from Councillor Marian James and Craig Edmunds as they discuss this brilliant achievement. https://lnkd.in/eSR7CNe6

Continuing to make Sutton a great place to live, work and raise a family.
About us
Sutton Council's vision is to build a community in which all can take part and all can take pride. This vision encapsulates our community based-approach and commitment to addressing quality of life issues and inclusiveness. Our five core values reinforce the vision and provide the underlying context to the way in which we do our work. The values form the acronym PRIDE and show how we are: • PEOPLE-FOCUSED - Better together: We work collaboratively with colleagues and partners, recognising that everything we do is for the benefit of our residents. • RESPONSIBLE - We think for ourselves and take initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do. We consider options carefully and make judgements, and then we take ownership of our decisions, knowing the risks. • INNOVATIVE - We think creatively, look for solutions and solve problems. We are always looking for new ideas, learning from our own experiences, each other, and the best in the world. • DIVERSE - We are passionate about everyone having the best opportunities. We carefully consider the impact of our decisions, and we always seek to act fairly. • ENTERPRISING - We take advantage of new opportunities and manage risk effectively. We work with the market and with the community to make the best use of public resources. Customer Care We aim to give the highest standard of customer care to all members of our community. When contacting us you can expect: • Staff to acknowledge you, be courteous and give their name and their service area; • Your dealings with us will be treated as confidential and we will tell you if the information you provide is to be used for any other purpose; • All of our staff will try to resolve issues at the first time you contact us; • All of our staff will communicate clearly according to your needs; • Our performance against our targets to be published on our website www.sutton.gov.uk

Sutton Council's 'Navigating Tough Times' campaign is collaborating with local mental health professionals and organisations to provide accessible support for men. 💙 This free resource is packed with practical advice on mental health, relationships, finances, and wellbeing - key areas that can impact men’s mental health. The booklet will be available across the borough in GP surgeries, gyms, barbershops, and community centers, as well as online, to ensure men have easy access to support and can prioritise their mental well-being. We're focused on creating a network of resources that empower colleagues and residents to seek help. https://lnkd.in/g9UgxgYa Learn more about our campaign👇 https://lnkd.in/gc_uyqxa #MentalHealthResources #Sutton

Last week we welcomed London’s Deputy Mayor for Business & Growth, Howard Dawber, CEO of London and Partners, Laura Citron OBE and CEO of MedCity, Angela Kukula for an insightful visit to explore our plans for the future of Sutton. Together with Greater London Authority and London & Partners, we had a close-up look at some of our exciting regeneration projects, including The London Cancer Hub in Belmont, a world-leading cancer research and life sciences site being developed in partnership with Aviva & Socius 🔬. We also visited Oru Space & the St Nicholas Centre, which is set to be transformed into a new civic hub with enhanced retail, leisure & public spaces. These projects, along with our commitment to creating jobs and sustainable growth, are a key part of Sutton’s bright future.💚 Find out more information 👇 https://lnkd.in/e4XHWQhz

Taking Action for Racial Equity This week we have been taking part in Race Equality Week, an annual UK-wide movement uniting hundreds of thousands of organisations and individuals to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace. The London Borough of Sutton is proud to be a leader in this space, having earned the prestigious Silver Trailblazer Accreditation. This recognition reflects the council’s unwavering commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered. We've held various events across the week including a live stream with Chief Executive, Helen Bailey and guest speaker Lee Chambers Lee shared his insights on how embracing an intersectional approach to race equality, accounting for race, gender, disability, and socio-economic factors, can build a more inclusive workplace. While progress has been made, there is still much work to do. As a community, we must strive to be proactive allies, holding ourselves accountable for creating a culture of inclusion and equity. Race Equality Week is our opportunity to lead by example and ensure that everyone at Sutton feels empowered, valued, and supported.
