Market insight, intelligence, and expertise on India held the attention of our audience yesterday afternoon at our seminar event exploring this high-growth market. India has become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, and with the UK Government’s announcement of the re-opening of negotiations for the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in the new year, the timing for this meeting of minds couldn’t have been better. With Rob Lewtas, Department for Business and Trade, expertly chairing the session, we heard from Elizabeth Martins, Economist at HSBC, Pratik D., Managing Director at EPG Economic and Strategy Consulting, and Sarah Bell, Public Affairs Director at UPS. Our expert speakers discussed the strength of the British brand, the rise in exports of UK services, the significant opportunities for British entrepreneurs in India, the importance of building relationships, and the huge growth in eCommerce, which is predicted to be worth $350 billion by 2030., as well as the benefits of the forthcoming UK-India Free Trade Agreement, which promise to be substantial. Thank you to our fantastic panel and our International Programme Partners, HSBC and UPS, for drawing our attention to the importance of this high-growth market to UK businesses📈

🏗️50 members and guests gathered in our Members' Lounge yesterday afternoon for the latest instalment of our Property and Construction Networking Club, hosted by Natalie Chapman, Chair of LCCI's Connected Liveable London Committee and Head of Public Affairs at Logistics UK. We are delighted with the news that trade discussions with India will recommence this year. India stands as one of the UK’s most important trading partners, with bilateral trade valued at an impressive £42 billion. This marks an exciting opportunity to further strengthen our economic relationship with India: https://ow.ly/yAF050UaI0r It is crucial that the UK Government seizes this moment to deepen our economic ties with India, which remains our 11th largest trading partner. Securing a comprehensive and mutually beneficial trade agreement will not only enhance bilateral trade but also drive sustainable economic growth and prosperity for both nations. A new trade deal offers enormous potential for businesses across London and the wider UK, creating pathways for businesses to access new markets and expand global reach. In return, both countries stand to gain from the cross-border exchange of knowledge, innovation, and services, creating long-term value for industries on both sides. We look forward to working to ensure that the needs and interests of businesses are effectively represented throughout these negotiations. LCCI will be holding an event on Tuesday 26 November to explore the incredible business opportunities in India for UK businesses, with a panel of expert speakers sharing valuable market insights and experience alongside our International Programme Partners HSBC and UPS.
