This #GivingTuesday we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported the Museum this year, including anyone who has made a donation and our amazing team of volunteers. Your support makes our work possible – from preserving the stories and objects that connect us with London’s transport and design heritage, to giving children and young people skills for the future, confidence and opportunities to fulfil their potential. London Transport Museum is an education and heritage charity that needs to generate 80% of its own income each year. This means that any gift, no matter how big or small, makes a real difference. About us
London Transport Museum explores the story of London and its transport system over the last 200 years, highlighting the powerful link between transport and the growth of modern London, culture and society since 1800. We care for over 450,000 items - preserving, researching and acquiring objects to use in our galleries, exhibitions and other activities. As well as exploring the past, the Museum looks at present-day transport developments and concepts for urban transportation in the future, which includes a contemporary collecting policy for the benefit of future generations.

We’re pleased to announce the addition of an incredible new interactive EV bus display to our Museum! 🚍 The Wrightbus Electroliner display – which has been provided thanks to Transport UK London Bus (TUKLB) – is based on an electric vehicle bus type which has been part of the fleet of buses operating on the capital’s bus routes since 2023. The new display shows the front of this bus type and includes an interactive driver cab and passenger space, allowing visitors to live out their dreams of driving a London bus. This fantastic display also shares other commonalities with TUKLB’s fleet. Including high-resolution digital screens from NAVAHO to share route information in colour to visitors, an all-digital bus blind supplied by Hanover Displays to make it easy to read the destination, and a Zenobē electric charger that visitors can use to ‘charge’ the bus. RGI Bus and Coach Refurbishment provided specialist support in developing the vehicle. A huge thank you to Transport UK London Bus, RGI Bus and Coach Refurbishment, Wrightbus, NAVAHO, Hanover Displays, Zenobē, Lazzerini Srl SB, Journeo plc, and AG Marketing Services

On Friday, we celebrated Kids in Museums Day, inviting schools to visit the Museum and take part in a host of activities specifically designed to spotlight careers in Design and Marketing. From a gallery tour, to designing their own poster, the students demonstrated enquiring minds and amazing artistic skills when it came to activities centred around our Global Poster Gallery. 🖼️ We hope they’re just as happy with what they’ve created as we are!

As Tomorrow’s Engineer’s week draws to a close, we’re reflecting on how our Inspire Engineering programme tackles the engineering and green skills shortage in the UK transport sector. 🛠️ By introducing children to real-world professionals, as well as providing workshops and practical skills, we’re inspiring young people to consider careers in STEM that perhaps wouldn't otherwise have been at the forefront of their minds. You can find out more about Inspire Engineering here: https://lnkd.in/eRaundcw

It’s National Engineering Day! 🛠️ As a part of Tomorrow’s Engineers Week, in partnership with STEM Learning, we’ve been working with schools to introduce pupils to real-world engineering careers and concepts, by connecting them with industry professionals from major UK engineering organisation, Transport for London. This online event opened doors for 1020 secondary school students (35 classes) to explore real-world engineering and sparked curiosity about careers in STEM. With Q&As, an interactive tour of engineering and some practical guidance and signposting for pupils, we’re excited to help shape the futures of tomorrow’s engineers through our work.
