About us
The Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) and our sister organisation, the Electricity Settlements Company (ESC), sit at the heart of the delivery of the UK’s goals for secure, affordable and sustainable electricity. LCCC was established to be the independent counterparty to Contracts for Difference (CFDs), a new incentive designed by Government to bring forward the investment needed to sustainably deliver the UK’s goals for renewable and other low carbon electricity. Our mission is to build confidence in Electricity Market Reform (EMR) through effective commercial delivery, continuous improvement and helping to deliver secure, affordable and sustainable electricity that everyone can benefit from. We are managing CFDs relating to projects that are planning over 5.5GW additional low carbon capacity by 2020, equivalent to almost 7% of current total installed electricity capacity in the UK.

Yesterday, EMRS issued the Mock System Stress Event Reports to Capacity Providers (CPs), replicating the calculations of a System Stress Event. This helps identify data quality issues and improve overall settlement accuracy. This reporting will help CPs to understand their initial position had a Stress Event occurred and be informed of any issues identified against individual Capacity Market Units. The EMRS service desk is available from 19 Nov to 12 Dec to assist with any queries related to the reporting. For more information, visit: https://lnkd.in/eUx-HNGF #capacitymarket

With 130 contracts signed across the length and breadth of Great Britain, #AR6 sees 9.58GW of renewable energy contracted to help us get to #NetZero. A key highlight is ScottishPower Renewables’s East Anglia Two project which accounts for 963MW and sits nearly 33miles off the east coast of England. To celebrate we held a contract signing ceremony between our CEO, Neil McDermott, and Scottish Power’s Ross Ovens Managing Director for Offshore Development and Operations. This project is a prime example of the scale and impact of AR6. Read more here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eSihydS2

Offshore wind is a key part of the Net Zero transition, supported by initiatives like the Clean Industry Bonus scheme promoting greener supply chains and reducing emissions. The consultation, published by DESNZ, is now live, and we encourage stakeholders to share their views to help shape its future.
Offshore wind developers will be rewarded for investing in less polluting suppliers through our new Clean Industry Bonus scheme. This will help develop greener supply chains, reduce industrial emissions and boost the rollout of clean, secure, cheap power for families. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/enQ8jgeT #UKatCOP29

Did you know that #floatingoffshorewind is set to play a critical role in the energy transition? Placing turbines on floating platforms in deep waters opens up new opportunities for generating clean energy for GB. With 2 #CfD contracts already secured, we’re excited to see how this technology will grow!
-
There are currently 58 #OffshoreWind projects in our #CfD portfolio generating 6.96GW of clean energy as we speak. With a notable 4.9GW awarded in AR6, this established renewable energy source is set to play a critical role in accelerating #NetZero.
