About us
M&G Investments is a global asset manager. Our network of investment teams connect world-class research capabilities with the diverse experiences and views of experts across multiple asset classes. We call this Intelligence Connected. We’ve been putting our clients at the centre of everything we do for over 90 years. And after launching Europe’s first-ever mutual fund back in 1931, we now invest in public and private assets – including fixed income, equities, multi-asset, real estate, private credit, infrastructure and private equity. Today, we manage over £313bn* on behalf of individual and professional investors, including banks, pension funds, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, charities and advisors. And by investing for our internal client, we further enhance our ability to understand and act on our clients’ objectives. As part of M&G plc, the international savings and investment business, we also have a shared purpose to give everyone real confidence to put their money to work. *As at 31 December 2023

President Trump announced plans to impose a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports into the US, affecting major suppliers like Mexico and Canada, as part of his broader trade policies. ‘Tariff Man’ has come out swinging, and this set of sanctions is likely going to impact various industries, including aerospace, auto manufacturing, and energy, potentially leading to higher consumer prices and reduced trade flows. In this weekly snapshot, Stefano Amato looks at how the rules of the game have changed – and the implications of this new world order across markets. #WeeklySnapshot #Trump #Tariffs #MarketInsights #Canada #Mexico #Steel #Aluminium

The Annual Investment Forum is over and out for another year. We were delighted to welcome clients back from around the world over two days and connect the dots of a complex macro environment. Our global network of investors across the equities and multi asset, fixed income and private markets desks discussed everything from the implications of a Trump presidency on tariffs and the climate to the evolving AI landscape and geopolitical bipolarity. We look forward to doing it all again next year, but for now, sit back, relax and enjoy some of the key highlights!

We’re pleased to announce that M&G Investments has acquired a majority stake in P Capital Partners in a move which further strengthens our private markets expertise, where we have the ambition to become the European champion. A leading European private credit business in the corporate non-sponsor sector, P Capital Partners supports entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses to grow and sustainable technologies to scale. With origins dating back to 2002, P Capital Partners boasts one of the longest track records in European direct lending and has invested in more than 170 companies. P Capital Partners, based in Stockholm and led by CEO Daniel Sachs, will become part of M&G's £73 billion private markets business, led by Emmanuel Deblanc, complementing M&G’s established £19 billion private credit team and broadening our client offering in markets where P Capital Partners already has strong relationships. We invited our Asset Management CEO, Joseph Pinto, to tell us more about the acquisition and opportunities moving forward. Later today, we will share further insights about the acquisition in a film with Emmanuel Deblanc and Daniel Sachs. You can read more about the acquisition here: https://lnkd.in/gyReAMmG

🎬That’s us for another year. We hope everyone who attended our 21st Annual Investment Forum had as great a time as we did, and our live updates from the event were insightful to everyone online. In a shifting macro landscape, we believe it is more crucial than ever to help clients put there money to work and make the right investment decisions to meet their needs. With Trump’s second presidency in full swing, and a generally volatile backdrop for global markets, we connected the dots of a complex world and outlined how our broad spectrum of capabilities can help investors navigate the challenges ahead, while identifying potential opportunities across the investment universe. We look forward to seeing you again next year.🎬 #2025AIF #IntelligenceConnected #2025InvestmentTrends #AssetManagement

The recent growth of private markets has been dramatic – and the story still has momentum behind it with a multitude of innovative potential opportunities in the space. In the last session of the day, our panel discussed how M&A activity in the private realm is likely to pick up in 2025 and which key themes they believe will impact their asset classes this year. Our CIO for private markets, Emmanuel Deblanc led the conversation with Fiona Hagdrup, Alex Seddon, Martin Towns and Anish Majmudar, CFA. The team outlined how themes such as loosening regulation in the US, the influence of Silicon Valley on policies, and a shift in energy policy could impact private asset classes. Despite the noise – especially with Trump – we believe investment in clean technology will likely continue, as the cost of wind and solar is now competitive with gas, while AI will increasingly play a role of strategic geopolitical importance, and real estate investors will focus on longer-term structural trends which can ride out volatility. #2025AIF #IntelligenceConnected #2025InvestmentTrends #AssetManagement #PrivateMarkets

📈Asia – the world’s largest and most populous region – is on an exciting journey that could lead to compelling investment opportunities for diligent investors, in our view. The region is home to many innovative companies that are increasingly shaping their industries to become future global leaders, with firms focusing on more profitable ‘smarter growth’, according to David Perrett, Vikas Pershad and Deepika Mundra. India has been an incredible investment story, and despite negative headlines, we see companies in China focusing on their core businesses, increasing dividend payments and buy-backs. Given the current backdrop of an escalating trade war between the US and China, we believe the best approach is building a portfolio of stocks which are uncorrelated to US President Donald Trump’s tariffs.📈 #2025AIF #IntelligenceConnected #2025InvestmentTrends #AssetManagement #Asia #Equities

🗾The pace of change in Japan is accelerating. This creates a strategic opportunity for engaged investors, according to Carl Vine, Co-Head of Asian Equities, speaking at our 2025 AIF. Over the past decade, Japan’s corporate landscape has been transformed, a greater focus on profitability and productivity has delivered results – and there’s a plausible case that Japanese equities can deliver attractive returns in this decade as companies continue on their journey of self-improvement. The opportunities for investors include adding value, seeking to become the shareholder of choice and working alongside companies to share insights and foster improvement.🗾 #2025AIF #IntelligenceConnected #2025InvestmentTrends #AssetManagement #Japan #Equities

🌌Despite 2024 marking the beginning of the interest rate cutting cycle for major central banks, bond markets have remained sceptical. Stefan Isaacs, Deputy CIO for Fixed Income, examines some key drivers of market concern, including questions over the disinflation narrative, fiscal policy and the demographic time bomb. However, looking beyond this negative narrative, fixed income still has plenty to offer. With much of the bad news already priced in, we believe the scene is set for Treasuries to deliver an attractive return. Meanwhile, tight spreads in corporate credit markets reflect material improvements in underlying credit quality and strong technical forces at play.🌌 #2025AIF #IntelligenceConnected #2025InvestmentTrends #AssetManagement #FixedIncome
