Assisting with the development of BIM and Digital Construction strategies

Yesterday I had the privilege of participating as a "Dragon" in Birmingham City University's Dragon's Den event, and I was thoroughly impressed by the creativity and professionalism of the MA Design Management students. Their innovative solutions to challenges in the water sector, coupled with well-researched pitches, demonstrated exceptional talent and preparation. The lecturers deserve immense credit for fostering such a dynamic learning environment that bridges academia and industry. Events like these are a testament to the value of collaboration and real-world application in education. Each pitch was fantastic so I didn't have to go full Duncan Bannatyne with any "I'm oot's", which was a bonus. Massive thank you for a great day Dr. Mersha Aftab Puente. BIM4Water Sam Lissaman

It was an extraordinary day of innovation, creativity, and strategy as the MA Design Management students at Birmingham School Architecture pitched their ideas for the Future of Sustainable Water Services. Continuing the industry and academic collaboration, students used #Design Thinking, #Design Strategy, and an #Empathy-led transformation approach to deep-dive into the problem space and propose viable, functional, and desirable solutions. BIM4Water brought three challenges: Managing Geographic Water Disparity in the UK Users, Moving Towards Resource-Efficient and Climate-Neutral Water Service, and Singular Sewage Systems in the UK—special thanks to Tim Pearson Camilla Lauridsen @Martingooch. Alma Alsawaf, Zain, Man Hin, and Xilun won the Best Idea Award sponsored by the Majenta BIM Team. They proposed a honeycomb water filtration system and created a 3D-printed prototype, which enabled them to give a live demo. Thanks, Jack Stevens, for handing out the award. Soukayna Saadani, Asher Anwer, Bharti, Ying, and Samuel won the Best Presentation Award sponsored by Autodesk. The panel loved the storytelling and visualisations in the presentation. Stefan Mordue from Bentley Systems sponsored gifts for all students and stated, 'Today, you all are winners!'. Thanks to all the students who worked smart and hard and engaged with a sector they had yet to learn about. Thanks to the Head of the College, Dr Jemma Browne, for supporting the course team, guests, and students. Also, big thanks to my colleagues @Nuno Nick Irvin and Dr Maria Caserio @rachelsara for their support of the project and for raising students' confidence in themselves.#bestteam #innovation #watersector #industry #academia #futuretalent #futureproofing #sustainability #collaboration #change #transformation.

  • What are the benefits of utilising BIM on Projects? We work with a diverse range of contractors, consultants, designers, and clients who leverage our services for various BIM-related projects. While many recognise the significant benefits of BIM, we occasionally encounter individuals who remain unconvinced. This got us thinking: are the advantages of BIM fully reaching every member of project teams and end users? As strong believers in its value, we’d love to hear your thoughts. How have you seen BIM’s benefits impact your projects and teams? Take our poll and share in the comments below: #DigitalConstruction #BIM #BIMBenefits #ClashDetection
