  • Trump has been re-elected. Here is why we feel: - your voice matters now more than ever - why support for equity, diversity, and inclusion should not falter - why this is an important lesson not just in the US but all over the world #EDI #DEI #diversityequityinclusion #USelection #donaldtrump #kamalaharris

📢 In the wake of Trump’s victory, here is both why your voice matters & why support for equity, diversity, and inclusion is needed now more than ever (not just in the US but across the globe)! 📢 ➡️ Now that Donald Trump has been re-elected, some will feel a blend of anxiety, frustration, and unease about what the future holds. This result raises crucial questions about the direction of fairness, inclusion, diversity, and justice - especially for marginalised and underrepresented groups impacted by divisive actions and language. ➡️ Yet, we must also consider why Trump’s message resonates so deeply with many, including people we may know, care for, and trust, who supported his ideas and plans, and who feel his message speaks to them authentically. ➡️ This support highlights a reality we need to confront - the genuine concerns people carry about their daily lives, national priorities, and the course of governance. ➡️ With Trump’s re-election, EDI work faces urgent challenges. Potential plans to roll back equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives threaten to erase years of hard-won progress. But this is when our commitment is truly tested. ➡️ EDI isn’t just a trend or checkbox; it’s the backbone of workplaces and communities that value trust, fairness, and belonging. And when political forces push against these values, it’s up to us to push back - stronger and smarter. ➡️ Why does this matter outside the US? Because movements against EDI ripple across borders, influencing global attitudes toward inclusion and equity. Supporting EDI is essential everywhere, as these values bind us in a commitment to a fairer, more just world. Here are 3️⃣ ways to stay resilient and create impact: 1️⃣Double down on education: Keep championing the “why” behind EDI. Why it matters. Why inclusion strengthens, not divides. Why it benefits all of us. 2️⃣Build allies and networks: Connect across fields, reach out to allies, and create networks that amplify EDI work. Together, we’re stronger. 3️⃣Commit to accountability: EDI has to be more than words. Now, set visible, measurable goals. Show that equity isn’t optional - it’s essential. Political cycles come and go, but our dedication to EDI must be constant. Let’s support each other and make sure equity, diversity, and inclusion remain central values that can’t be erased. #EDI #DEI #diversityequityinclusion Make Diversity Count #USelection #donaldtrump #kamalaharris

What’s content strategy got to do with equity, diversity and inclusion? 👀 Earlier this month, I had the chance to speak at ContentEd on using content strategy to support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), with a focus on anti-racism. Content strategy isn’t just about sharing information - it’s about shaping perceptions, building trust, and creating spaces where people feel they truly belong. In my session, we explored how content strategy can play a powerful role in making sure everyone is seen, heard & included. Here are a few things we touched on: ✨Representation in content: Taking the time to regularly look at our content and ask, “Who’s being represented here?” goes a long way. It’s about making sure we’re not just talking about EDI but actually reflecting it. ✨Consistency over reactivity: EDI isn’t a checkbox exercise. It’s about being consistent and genuine in everything we put out there. That builds real trust and shows we’re committed, even when it’s tough. ✨Content that sparks action: Content has the power to inspire more than just awareness; it can drive people to act! Whether through training, advocacy, or events, make it a goal to create content that motivates change. For example, can your blog post lead to a sign up page for a workshop or panel event relating to EDI where people can learn more? No matter the field, sector or industry, content strategy has a part to play in making inclusion real and felt by everyone. #contentstrategy #EDI #DEI #antiracism #equity #diversity #inclusion

I’m excited to be speaking at ContentEd Conference 2024 today, where I’ll be diving into “Black Lives Matter in Education”. This session is based on years of research I’ve done for Halpin and reporting on how we can better support Black students and staff in higher education through Content Strategy. It’s also based on my experiences with campaigns and content strategy in this space through my Make Diversity Count work. The theme for Black History Month is Reclaiming Narratives and it feels quite apt to be give this presentation at this conference. See the comments below for the reports and resources that I’ll reference. #blacklivesmatter #diversityandinclusion #highered #antiracism #blmineducation #makediversitycount #blackhistorymonth
