Today is National Espresso Day, a day to celebrate the tasty drink that keeps us energized. ☕ The UK alone drinks around 98 million cups of coffee a day! Everyone wants their coffee just right, which is why particle size is incredibly important. For example, for a strong coffee like an espresso that is brewed under pressure for a very short time, it’s important to have small particles. This is so that a large surface area of the ground coffee is in contact with the water, meaning a lot of flavor and strength can be extracted as it brews. Coffee roasters and producers want to ensure consistent quality in their product and therefore it’s important that their grinding equipment can reliably produce the same size distribution.
