🔥 New paper out now in Radiotherapy and Oncology Results from the The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and The University of Manchester teams show that introducing a dose limit for the heart during lung radiotherapy doesn't compromise the safety of other organs at risk during lung radiotherapy. The team compared data from two cohorts of patients, those treated with the dose limit and those treated post implementation of the dose limit and found no significant increases in dose were observed for other thoracic organs at risk. The team hopes that this approach could improve the survival in patients with lung cancer undergoing radiotherapy. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eMnrv8yB

📰 Cancer Research UK have invested a further £4m into lung cancer research in Manchester, awarding the Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence a further five years of funding. Established over a decade ago, this funding will help the Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence to drive further improvements in prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence is supported by our partners at Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, The University of Manchester, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, UCL, UCLH, and the Francis Crick Institute.
