This week, we attended the “Bridging the Journalism and Advertising Divide,” panel hosted by Stagwell and BSME - The British Society of Magazine Editors. The panel tackled key industry challenges, including brand safety, outdated keyword blocklists and the difficulty publishers face in proving the effectiveness of advertising around quality journalism, and offering enough scale for advertisers to deliver effective advertising when competing with the big platforms. A key takeaway was the importance of recognising the value of trusted media and adopting a more collaborative approach to ensure journalism is funded, with a focus on making brands feel safe investing in news and leveraging cleverer brand safety tools to bridge this gap.
