This Christmas, thousands of our Support Centre colleagues are swapping their desks for the shop floor as part of our Closer to Customers programme. Known as “Elfing” during the festive period, this initiative allows colleagues to spend 4 days working in stores or our distribution centres, providing much-needed extra support during our busiest trading and delivery period while also learning more about our retail operations. This year, the impact will be bigger than ever: 🎅 3,261 colleagues from the Support Centre have booked shifts in our stores. 🎁 11,193 shifts will be completed across the Christmas period by our elves, helping to support our store and Logistics teams through their busiest periods. 🎄 574 stores across the UK and ROI will benefit from additional support on their busiest days. This programme is about more than just lending a hand. By getting closer to the day-to-day operations, our colleagues strengthen connections across the business, spot opportunities for improvement, and help create meaningful change for colleagues, customers, and our business. Say hello to Liz Osborne! Liz is a shining star at our Newport store, celebrating her 60th year of Christmas magic at M&S. ⭐ Liz began her career in 1961 in ‘Ladies Lingerie’ and now wears the crown of being one of the longest serving colleagues in the business. Reflecting on her years with M&S, Liz said: “M&S has played a significant role in my life and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. The people are what makes it such a wonderful place to work. “Over the years, I’ve come to find the festive season truly starts when the M&S Christmas advert appears on screens.
