𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗕 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 Yesterday, we were delighted to a host a group of teachers from Nongong and Posan Middle Schools in Daegu, South Korea, who were in the UK as part of their Advanced Training for Lead Teachers in the International Baccalaureate course. As a longstanding champion of the educational philosophy and pedagogical approach of the IB, and the first girls' school in the UK to offer the IB Diploma (1979), we were only too pleased to share our expertise in and passion for the IB with some of the newest members of the global family of IB educators. With sessions led by Mr Nick Marcou, our Senior Deputy Head Academic and IB Coordinator, Ms Hyun Jung Owen, our MYP Coordinator, and Ms Christina John, our Chair of Science, (all simultaneously translated so beautifully by our wonderful Teacher of Korean, Ms Jung-Mi Oh), our guests were able to explore and deepen their understanding of the student-centred, contextualised, and concept and inquiry-based approaches we use here at Marymount International School London that enable our students to achieve to their fullest potential and which consistently place the school amongst the very best in the world.

At the core of our boarding programme at Marymount is a steadfast commitment to fostering meaningful relationships and encouraging the development of independence. The home-away-from-home experience we have curated works in perfect harmony with the rigorous IB curriculum, in which our students excel. Visitors to our boarding marvel at the programme of activities we have for our boarders, the care and devotion of our houseparents, and the nurturing environment which encourages success. Our boarding community is the heart of our school, and alumnae love coming back to see us and reminisce with students and staff about their time living at Marymount. Just before Christmas we were delighted to be listed in the top three of UK schools offering solely the IB Diploma at 6th Form in The Times Parent Power Survey. As the first all-girls school to adopt the IB Diploma in 1979, we are delighted to see that The Times Parent Power Survey has once again recognised our students’ outstanding results and our School’s continued commitment to this globally recognised gold standard of education. Being placed in the top three is a testament to the culture of learning and endeavour fostered here at Marymount where academic excellence is pursued alongside the development of our students’ character and their many gifts and talents. Christina John, Chair of Science at Marymount, has shared insights into the activities students participated in during Chemistry Month in November. As an all-girls school, STEAM subjects are of particular importance to us, as our graduates have gone on to study in the fields of medicine, healthcare, energy, chemicals and minerals, making a difference everyday in their chosen workplaces. Research has shown that girls are more likely to engage fully in these subjects at in a single-sex environment, which is another reason why we are so #ProudlyAllGirls. #ProudlyMarymount
