Our in-house automation expert, James Jones, recently talked all things automation on the ANTdriven by BlueBotics webinar 🎙️ Hear him discussing the project we implemented with Toyota to install a fleet of AGVs at their manufacturing plant for their resin back door production process.   The solution: a 3-tonne capacity AGV covering 2 METRES PER SECOND as well as navigating fast-acting doors and traffic lights. It's no secret that the manufacturing sector is facing a critical skills shortage. So could the new apprenticeship rule changes be the solution we've been waiting for here in the UK? Announced earlier this week during #NationalApprenticeshipWeek – these reforms offer some promising changes: 1️⃣ Flexibility: businesses will now have more say in English and Maths qualification requirements for over-19 apprentices, allowing the prioritisation of practical skills for many manufacturing roles. 2️⃣ Faster onboarding: shorter apprenticeship durations (down to 8 months from 12) mean quicker integration of new recruits into the workforce, addressing urgent staffing needs. 3️⃣ Upskilling opportunities: these changes also benefit existing employees, enabling them to adapt to new technologies and processes. 4️⃣ Skills England's strategic role: the new Skills England will play a key role in identifying and addressing skills shortages within manufacturing.
