Since its launch in 1994, VCTs have grown to collectively manage over £6.5bn, supporting a portfolio of more than 1,000 start-ups and scale-ups that together employ over 100,000 people. The UK remains a global leader in venture investment, with high-growth start-ups projected to have secured close to £14bn in funding in 2024, placing the country behind only the USA and China. The latest Venture Capital Trust Association (VCTA) report explores the impact of VCTs over the past 30 years and looks ahead at how the industry can continue to drive innovation. The report also highlights the achievements of VCT-backed entrepreneurs, including James Uffindell, Founder of Maven VCT portfolio company Bright Network, who has been recognised as an Emerging Entrepreneur.
