  • 💡Breaking the Cycle of Vertical Cracking in Ladle Linings: An Innovative Approach💡   Vertical cracking in refractory linings is a persistent challenge, especially in the slag zones and barrels of steel treatment ladles. These cracks often appear early in the campaign, intensifying over time and reducing the service life of magnesia-carbon bricks. At Mayerton, we’ve taken a proactive stance to solve this problem by reimagining ladle design and production processes.   Our reversed pressing process is a breakthrough in addressing mechanical, thermal, and chemical stresses, ensuring robust brick compaction and structural flexibility. By altering the pressing direction and optimising the binding concept, we’ve significantly reduced, and in some cases eliminated vertical cracking.   This innovation has been validated through rigorous research, scientific analysis, and extensive industrial trials, with proven success in real-world conditions. Presented at UNITECR21, our findings highlight a sustainable and efficient solution to an industry-wide issue, setting a new standard in ladle refractory performance.   Curious about the technical details? 👉 Read our full research paper: https://lnkd.in/e7XHHjNN to explore the science and methodology behind this transformation. Together, we’re shaping the future of refractory technology, one innovative solution at a time. • 🌍 Sustainability in Refractories: Mayerton’s Roadmap for a Greener Future 🌿 At Mayerton, we are committed to driving sustainability in the steel industry, supporting both Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) and Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmakers as they transition toward greener practices. Our Sustainability Roadmap is focused on reducing the environmental impact of refractories while maintaining performance and quality. Why EAFs Matter: Electric Arc Furnaces will be the backbone of steel production for the next 25–30 years. Christopher Beckmann, Managing Director, explains: "EAFs are pivotal to the future of steelmaking, thanks to their focus on recycling rather than raw ore extraction. However, not all BOFs will be replaced by EAFs in the short term, as certain high-quality steel grades require raw materials. At Mayerton, we are leveraging 30 years of experience with EAF mills to support this shift while maintaining the quality of steel production." Our Impactful Initiatives include: ✅ Recycling ✅ Reformulation ✅ Energy Efficiency At Mayerton, we #CreateCollaboration with our customers to shape a more sustainable future in the refractory industry. 🤝 👉 Read the full interview with refractories WORLDFORUM here: https://lnkd.in/efWCdu-S
