I finally made some money online 🎉. In a way I didn't expect:
A few months ago, I was looking for an app to help me deal with the 100+ newsletters I was subscribed to.
When I downloaded Meco, I got a personal email from Sean McCarney, one of the co-founders. I answered it, and we exchanged a few emails, with some feedback I had.
I was impressed, and am using it since then.
On Tuesday, I wrote an article about how I consume tons of digital content (newsletters, podcasts, books) efficiently.
I put an affiliate link to Meco, and people loved it! ~23% of the people who clicked the link converted to users!
As a content creator, monetization can be tricky.
• I want to have no pressure to publish content, and I want all of it to be free - so I'm not doing paid subscriptions.
• I've been declining newsletter sponsorship offers in the last few months, because I don't want to promote products I don't believe in.
I also shied away from affiliate links until now, because I didn't want it to influence my content. It's very tempting to exaggerate the benefits of what you are promoting, or change the content to fit it better.
I'm still struggling with that dillema, and currently, my only guideline is my conscience.
In the Meco case, I feel 100% good about the promotion.
So if you are reading newsletters, I highly recommend checking it out!
