Why does market shaping matter? In a healthy market, products are available for patients when they need them at prices they can afford. This means having a range of suppliers in the market providing sufficient volumes and competing to provide high quality products at sustainable prices. Clear visibility of demand and payments is needed alongside a stable policy environment so that manufacturers can plan their investments. Our innovative financing tools help strengthen health markets so that more products are available for more people at affordable prices. #MarketShaping | #InnovativeFinance | #SustainableImpact

Sometimes, working in global health can feel a little abstract. We're often far away from the people we serve and the suppliers we partner with, and even the products we're trying to improve access to. I had a small insight into the latter earlier this month, when I attended the launch of SD Biosensor's new India Manufacturing Plant. It was great to see where and how these products are made before being sent to those who need them! MedAccess has partnered with SD Biosensor to boost access to Dual HIV-Syphilis tests for pregnant women, and deploy G6PD tests which ensure the correct treatment for malaria. https://lnkd.in/g8FwKP2a SD BIOSENSOR INC

📢 REMINDER: Our call for Expressions of Interest regarding near-point-of-care TB molecular diagnostics is open until 5 March 2025. We are exploring ways to support increased access to affordable #TB diagnostics in low- and middle-income countries. New diagnostics have the potential to bring TB services closer to the point of care and drive progress towards WHO’s #EndTB Strategy. We invite interested manufacturers to submit an expression of interest for financial tools (such as volume guarantees, debt financing, capital expenditure loans, or working capital) to improve access to near-point-of-care TB diagnostics. https://lnkd.in/eAh7ACeD

🆕 Two new publications in The Lancet Group Global Health this week have brought attention to an essential medicine access gap: oxygen. An estimated 25 million people die each year due to approximately 20 conditions requiring oxygen, such as pneumonia and heart disease. The two publications are: 1️⃣ Reducing global inequities in medical oxygen access: the Lancet Global Health Commission on medical oxygen security: https://lnkd.in/eJvxnB9c 2️⃣ The crucial role of industry in increasing access to medical oxygen. Co-authored by MedAccess' Kaodili Udeh, this commentary explores what's needed for oxygen production and distribution to be scaled up: https://lnkd.in/e5xNF5Au Doctors should not be forced to decide which patients to benefit from limited oxygen supplies. Exciting to see the UK and South Africa will co-host The Global Fund's Replenishment this year. 👏 The Global Fund's investment case outlines how a fully funded Global Fund could #Save23MillionLives and build stronger health systems. Together, we can accelerate access to products that prevent and treat HIV, TB and malaria and end the three deadliest infectious diseases.
The Global Fund is a worldwide partnership to defeat HIV, tuberculosis and malaria and ensure a healthier, safer, more equitable future for us all. The UK will co-host the replenishment of The Global Fund this year with South Africa, as they bring the G20 to Africa for the first time. We will work in partnership to strengthen health systems across the world and end AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria by 2030.

It was a pleasure to speak at #NCDAF2025, co-hosting a session with Novo Nordisk and IFPMA on unlocking innovative financing for NCDs. At MedAccess, we've seen how financial solutions like volume guarantees can drive access and affordability in infectious diseases—now, the challenge is applying these models to NCDs despite funding and procurement barriers. We recognize that our solutions must work within the realities of high reliance on domestic financing and out-of-pocket spending, and we remain committed to finding innovative ways to bridge these gaps. Looking forward to continued collaboration to expand access and impact! Kimberly Green Carissa Vados
