  • Criminal gangs don’t think twice about exploiting the vulnerable to get what they want. These callous individuals groom children to deal drugs & engage in other criminal activities, bribing them with gifts & promises that never materialise. 👀Eyes Open is an important campaign helping parents, carers, teachers, & youth workers, spot the signs of exploitation and #countylines It’s this awareness that will help to protect those most at risk.

  • 🟠 #16Days Day 4️⃣ SAVERA UK work to tackle Harmful Practices. ‘Honour ’-based abuse remains an issue in #Merseyside, despite the latest statistics showing a decrease in HBA-related offences reported by police. Afrah Qassim, Founder and CEO of Savera UK, said: “Despite the decrease in reports revealed in the latest data, we know that what is reported and even what we see on the frontline is only the tip of the iceberg. "We are fortunate to work in partnership with Merseyside’s Police and Crime Commissioner and welcome her commitment to improving responses locally, as well as contributing to our mission to end HBA and harmful practices for good." You can read about the latest Home Office data on HBA and what that means for Merseyside on the Savera UK website here ⬇ https://lnkd.in/eTK7hvHA

  • Officers will be out in force across the next few weeks, in our city, town centres and neighbourhoods, with increased patrols to deter those callous individuals from spoiling the festive fun, while also providing reassurance and advice for anybody who needs it. They'll be working around the clock, offering crime prevention advice & high visibility activity, to make sure everyone can enjoy the season safely. I would ask that you help the police; stay alert, be extra vigilant and look out for one another so we can all enjoy what should be a magical time of year for everybody across Merseyside. 🎅🎄

  • Listening to the voices of students across Merseyside 🗣 Today I joined representatives from LJMU and Hope University students’ unions with Head of Protecting Vulnerable People Unit Ch. Supt Paul Lamb to sit down and discuss their concerns around Violence against Women and Girls. This is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring women’s voices are at the centre of this work and follows on from the discussions we had with the students at the launch of our #TakingAction campaign. During this roundtable we were able to discuss the issues that students are experiencing around safety and answer their questions on what Merseyside Police are doing to tackle it. It was a really informative discussion to hear what gaps there are and how we can better prevent and protect students as well as raise awareness on how they can report to the police 🚨 Merseyside Police | Liverpool John Moores University Students' Union | Liverpool Hope Students' Union
