Large-scale sustainable installation and educative floral projects delivered to and through communities alongside events

About us

Metafleur is a floral design studio based in London, creating large-scale floral installations for events and commissions alongside dried flower arrangements for offices. Focus is placed on collaboration with client, research of selected materials and increasing project sustainability so that our designs are realised with precision and environmental responsibility. As well as using the best seasonal British flowers and plants, our designs incorporate innovative supports to minimise waste; with opportunities arranged for re-working flowers post-event for donation to charity and community organisations.

Updates

  • Thanks to Akihiro Mashimo for opportunity to join his bamboo studio team, Nagaoka Meichiku in creation and realisation of this bamboo ball installation designed by Akito Yamamoto. This display, one of five illuminated artworks will be on display outside Kyoto until the 17th of November alongside Lake Biwa in Otsu. Very grateful for funding received from The Royal Horticultural Society, Daiwa Foundation and Japanese Garden Society for recent trip to Japan and look forward to sharing more skills gleaned. #bambooinstallation #bambooart #floralinstallation #nagaokameichiku #metafleur

  • This week Metafleur is participating in creation of floral accompaniment to 🌸🎋 bamboo installation designed by Akito Yamamoto and realised by bamboo craftsman Akihiro Mashimo of Nagaoka Meichiku studio as part of Yowanotsuki Project. The Festival is in Otsu, Japan and the project presents a series of light and floral installation works on its lakeshore inspired by The Tale of Genji, one of the earliest recorded novels written about Court life by lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu in Otsu in the 11th Century. This participation was made possible by funding secured for research into bamboo fencing and use as structural floral supports for event flowers from @the_rhs #rhstravelbursary @thejapanesegardensociety @daiwafoundation 🇯🇵✨

  • Pleased to announce that Metafleur has been shortlisted for floral installation category for both RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Tatton Park with dried floral work 'Rich Tapestry of Life.' 'Rich Tapestry of Life' is a hanging floral design that weaves together peoples' stories of the countryside with visualised statistics regarding changes to the landscape. Although it remains an idea, this year feels like a milestone in terms of working out how sponsorship for the Fair works and we also have other exciting RHS news to reveal! The opportunity and challenge to realise a tapestry of this nature and intricacy awaits....
