In a landmark ruling for brand owners, Thatchers has won its trademark appeal against Aldi. The Court of Appeal found Aldi's lemon cider intentionally mimicked Thatchers' design to trade on its goodwill, overturning a previous High Court ruling. We had a great time celebrating Scotland’s Bard, Roberts Burns, at our annual MFMac #BurnsSupper in our Glasgow office on Thursday evening. Thank you to our first year trainees for organising such a successful event, and all our speakers for their great speeches. All proceeds from the event go to the Beatson Cancer Charity.

Yesterday we were delighted to host HSBC's breakfast event with James Pomeroy, UK Economist, at our Haymarket office in Edinburgh. The session provided an informative look at a range of key issues impacting the economic landscape for 2025 and beyond. A big thank you to all who joined us.

The appointment of a high-profile board to GB Energy, including a former CEO of Scottish Power Energy Networks, marks the first news in months concerning the Labour government's flagship publicly owned energy company. With a fund of £8.3bn to invest in, develop and build new energy projects in the UK it should become a major force in the push for Net Zero, but very little has been heard about it in some time. Observers will be hoping that the new appointments are a sign that more news will be coming soon. The spotlight at this year's World Future Energy Summit, held in Abu Dhabi last week, was on artificial intelligence's transformative role in energy.
