HEALTH TECH CAREERS ROADSHOW - MONDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2025 Registrations are now open for schools and colleges to book onto our Mid and South Essex Health & Care Academy Health Tech Roadshow 2025 in collaboration with USP College Seevic campus and Basildon Borough Council! The roadshow is aimed at students in years 9 -13, who may be interested in a career within the healthcare sector. The event is free to attend and will include interactive career stations and demonstrations for students to get hands-on experience to help bridge the gap between what they enjoy doing, and what they could potentially do as a future career. Teams from our Mid and South Essex NHS and Social Care providers will be in attendance and it is a fantastic opportunity for young people in our region who are interested in healthcare careers to explore some of the 350 job roles available. The event offers 2 sessions and will be held at USP College, Seevic Campus SS7 1TW The morning session runs from 9:30am – 11:45am The afternoon session runs from 12:30pm – 2:45pm. Our Health & Care Academy offers people living in our local communities the opportunity to learn more about the varied careers on offer in the NHS and social care, see some of the things that healthcare professionals do, learn some essential life skills and find out more about what they are interested in. The Academy is for anyone in Mid & South Essex who is in need of career guidance or for those who may be interested in working in health or care across the region. The Academy is also designed to support the career development of our existing staff, providing access to opportunities such as apprenticeships, training schemes, specialist or management training and leadership development.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as students explored diverse opportunities from different industries and the amazing world of NHS and social care careers. The students were impressive with their insightful questions and enthusiasm, eager to learn about how they can make a difference in the world. They were particularly drawn to the incredible range of roles within the NHS and social care. NEW APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY - PHARMACY NELFT NHS Foundation Trust, NELFT Careers are currently recruiting for a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician Apprentice based at Goodmayes Hospital, Ilford. You will gain experience in a range of different pharmacy settings. This is an innovative two-year apprenticeship that allows successful postholders to learn the pharmacy technician role in a range of rotations in NELFT, inpatient wards, community teams, and the dispensary. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established pharmacy team, gaining work experience as well as a recognised apprenticeship qualification. Working hours will reflect the opening times for the setting where you are based. As part of the programme, you will be working towards a level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians. This is a fixed term contract, however, once you have successfully completed the programme you will be offered a permanent contract and will be able to register as a Pharmacy Technician. Eligibility for successful applicants: Will be aged 18+ (no upper limit) Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education Can hold a degree but not in the area in which the apprenticeship aligns with the pharmacy framework. You must have 4 GCSEs at grade C (or above) or equivalent to include English, Maths, and 2 science subjects You need to be committed to learning and completing coursework to deadlines. On Wednesday evening Mid and South Essex Health & Care Academy attended Anglo European School Careers Convention. We spent an enjoyable few hours talking to students and their families about roles in the NHS and Social Care. We had some fantastic student interactions, and it was inspiring to see the enthusiasm the next generation have for careers in health and care.
