Updates

  • Today we would like to share the amazing news that yesterday at the Chutney & Chat Business Networking Dinner in Birmingham, Saira Butt our director of housing here at Midlands Living CIC won the Entrepreneur Trailblazer 2024 Award. This "overdue" and well-deserved recognition not only celebrates her exceptional leadership and innovation but also highlights Saira's remarkable efforts in supporting #homeless individuals and families. Saira's unwavering support towards victims of #domesticabuse with no recourse to public funds is remarkable. Through her personal and professional dedication to helping vulnerable people, it really does continue to inspire her employees, colleagues, and many others. As a team we are greatly motivated by her commitment and incredibly proud of her achievements. Well done, Saira ! 🎉👏

  • Last week the team were delighted to receive the following letter from Rushanara A. acknowledging the impact of the SEA Forum event that took place in November. Events like this really do showcase the positive effects on our residents especially when like minded organisations collaborate for the good of the community. We look forward to further events taking place in 2025. Well done Paul Powell 👏

  • SAIRA DONATES £3K TO HELP TOWARDS BUILDING A KIDS VILLAGE FOR SICK CHILDREN !!! What a fantastic time our team recently had at a charity event. The event was organised to raise money to help build a Kids’ Village that will help really sick children and their families. The Kids Village will give the sick children a restful break away from the trauma of being in and out of hospitals. During the evening an auction was held where people bid for things. We attended the event as we like to support the local community and like to make a difference to people's lives wherever we possibly can. Our amazing Saira Butt is the person on table 17 that the compare is referring to here. What a great gesture donating £3k on the night that will go towards building the Kids Village 👏 Want to know more about the Kids Village? Click on the link below 🔗https://lnkd.in/dvD4ve4

  • There is a misconception that supported accommodation is just about providing a roof over someone's head. This could not be further from the truth !!! Our experience informs us that supported accommodation is about creating a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can thrive and feel part of a community. Let's take a closer look at why supported accommodation is vital: 👉Empowers Independence: Residents receive tailored support to help them build life skills, boosting confidence and self-reliance. 👉Fostering Connections: Being part of a supportive community reduces isolation and encourages social interactions. 👉Providing Stability: Safe, consistent housing helps residents focus on their personal growth and future goals. 👉Enhancing Well-Being: Emotional and practical support improves mental and physical health outcomes. At Midlands Living CIC we are proud to play a role in strengthening communities by offering compassionate supported accommodation. Together, we create a brighter future for everyone. • IT'S BLACK FRIDAY THE SALES ARE ON AND WE HAVE A GREAT DEAL FOR YOU !!!! Yesterday we read that shoppers are predicted to splurge a record £2.48million a minute in today's Black Friday sales – but could your cash be better spent? How about helping to fund a #homeless person back into work by paying for training, childcare, course fees and work mentors. Be honest, how many times have you walked past a homeless person on the street and not known what to do? Have you ever offered them food or a hot drink, knowing it would only be a short-term relief? Many homeless people are actually ready to enter the workplace but face many barriers. These barriers are often lack of skills, lack of support networks, and lack of confidence that gets crushed being homeless. Why not #donate to a homeless charity today knowing that your money really will help to make a difference to somebody's life !!! #blackfriday #tacklinghomelessness #spendwisely

This month’s newsletter by Midlands Living CIC highlights my employer's continued incredible collaboration with various wellbeing and employability-focused agencies. We are especially grateful for their ongoing engagement with our dedicated housing support workers, which has brought significant benefits to residents living in our various supported exempt accommodation across the West Midlands We also hope that other supported housing providers and professionals find the newsletter’s advisory content and examples of our tenancy engagement activities useful and inspiring. Please note there will not be a January edition of the newsletter as I need to prepare for the 2025 year. I’ve shared this newsletter now as I will be on annual leave until the 4th of December. And yes, as always, I must apologise in advance for the jokes included – I couldn’t resist! 😂
