Alfie Sykes is a Commercial Apprentice with our Yorkshire team.   After completing a work experience placement, Alfie was keen to return to the company and applied for an apprenticeship through our Early Talent Scheme.   Alfie plays a key role in providing sub-contractors with the information they need to complete work on our developments and ensures that our PPE and Site Protection stocks are well maintained.   At the start of his apprenticeship, Alfie enjoyed spending some time working on site to understand how the build process is managed from start to finish. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW25 #MillerHomes #Apprentices

Samuel Mbu joined our South Midlands team as a Technical Trainee after a teacher encouraged him to apply for our Early Talent Scheme. Samuel has found a traineeship to be the perfect fit for him, allowing him to gain experience quickly and apply the skills he is developing in a real work environment. We had the best time making Louie’s 6th birthday extra special! 🎂 Louie, who’s fascinated by construction, watches our Frimley Square site in Surrey every day on his way to school. His parents reached out to see if we could help make his birthday wish come true, so we did! With the help of Collard Group Ltd we gave Louie a VIP tour, let him hop onto the diggers, and even surprised him with a cake. It’s safe to say, he had a great time! Amy, Louie’s Mum, said: “It was just a dream come true for Louie, and we’re very grateful to Miller Homes and Collard Contracting for arranging this huge surprise for his birthday. “He is so happy to say he’s been to an actual construction site.” A huge thanks to his family for letting us be part of this special moment. 💙 #NewBuildHomes #BuildingCommunities #NewBuild #Community #Surrey

Francis Jones is a Trainee Assistant Site Manager in our Teesside team, who joined us after completing a level 3 site management apprenticeship. Francis is a big advocate for traineeships and apprenticeships. She enjoys learning from experienced professionals, developing her professional network, and applying her knowledge and skills outside the classroom. Luke Stacey is a Commercial Trainee with our Southern team. Keen to get a head start in his chosen career, Luke joined us after completing his A-levels. Luke’s role involves assisting with the procurement process for sites, paying sub-contractors and managing project costs. Mia Ullmer is a Technical Trainee with our North West team, who applied to our Early Talent Scheme after completing A-levels in product design, criminology, and geography at college. Mia has a varied role, which includes creating and updating site drawings, keeping up to date with discharging planning and NHBC conditions, and designing key details like sales areas and cycle stores for sites. It’s National Apprenticeship Week! This week we’ll be hearing from some of our fantastic apprentices and trainees across the business and sharing their experiences of learning on the job at Miller Homes. We’ll also be reflecting on the success of our Early Talent Scheme, which launched in May 2024. Designed to attract and nurture talented individuals in the early stages of their careers, the scheme has proved very popular. Nearly 5% of our workforce is now made up of Early Talent, with apprentices and trainees working in various roles across the business, including in our Site Management, Technical, Commercial and Land teams. In 2024, we also set some of our new recruits the challenge of completing a five-day adventure course with The Outward Bound Trust in the Lake District. We are thrilled to share some fantastic achievements in our North West team! 👏🏻 Congratulations to Shannon Rowlands, promoted to Quantity Surveyor, and Spencer Lamb, who has been promoted to Engineer. Shannon, who joined us in 2019 and graduated with distinction, has been instrumental in budget planning for our Church View site. Spencer, part of the team since 2017, has completed his degree and continues to deliver innovative engineering solutions. We’re also pleased to celebrate George Heron, honoured as Site Manager of the Quarter, and Sean Regan, awarded Assistant Site Manager of the Quarter. After a record-breaking year of fundraising from our South Midlands region, raising almost £23,000 for The Hope Centre in Northampton, our team are already back at work planning 2025's fundraising activities for its new charity, Medical Detection Dogs – and what better way to start than with a visit from the stars of the show! 🐕🐾 Last week, the team received a demonstration of the dog's incredible detective skills at our South Midlands office and started work on plans for another record-breaking year! 🏆
