GM! I missed this when it was announced a couple of weeks ago. However, it is super-interesting. A virtual machine called Stylus has been launched on Arbitrum (a leading Ethereum layer 2 blockchain). It seems to bring lots of advantages (e.g. boosting performances, lowering gas fees). However, the most eye-catching is that it enables DApp development with WebAssembly languages. Put simply, it means that developers don't have to learn languages like Solidity in order to write smart contracts. Instead, they can use traditional programming languages such as Rust, C and C++. 👩🏼💻 To me, this looks like a game-changer. It opens-up web3 development to a much larger pool of programmers - bringing in their expertise, innovation, capacity, and perhaps even driving down costs of development. GM! This is fascinating data from Visa on #stablecoins Firstly, they are showing stablecoin transaction volume growing an average of 225% per year since 2019. Secondly, Visa also surveyed 2.5k stablecoin users in emerging economies (India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey and Brazil). Their primary use cases were: 47% - get USD access 43% - get better currency conversion rates 32% - international payments Interestingly, 39% have used stablecoins to pay for a good or service, and 23% have even used stablecoins to receive or pay a salary. The future for stablecoins seems bright, as usage is highest in 18-24 y/olds, the majority have increased their usage in the last year, and the vast majority foresee increasing usage in the future. And currently, 34% of the respondents convert fiat to stablecoins on a weekly basis! As things transpired, client priorities got in the way of the first planned recording date, my wife went into labour an hour before the second, and then our compere George Hammick had to undergo and then recover from surgery.
