I was at a trade show quite recently and spotted a company who used to send us a lot of press releases but we've not heard from for a while, so I wandered over and asked them to make sure we were still on their press list. "It's okay", they said. "We post all our press releases on Twitter and Linkedin so you can download them from there." PR people: don't do this. There were 150 companies in that room alone and that's a fraction of the number of possible companies out there. If I checked their all social media feeds for their latest press material, I'd never get anything else done. If you don't send them out directly, and other people are, they have an immediate huge advantage over you. Just put an editorial email list together and send them out. It takes next to no time and increases the chance of your press getting seen and run a millionfold.
