When you experience pain in your heel or on the bottom of your foot, it is likely that the plantar fascia is irritated or inflamed. In most cases, the pain will usually occur after running or exercise, rather than during it. 👣 If you are unsure as to what is causing your foot/heel pain or need advice about how to treat it, check out our latest blog - link below: https://lnkd.in/ePTJSagS #footpain #heelpainrelief #FootPainRelief #heelpain #plantarfasciitis #shockwavetherapy #orthoticinsoles

Absolutely agree and what we aim to achieve in private practice.
'Rehab is key not just to good recovery but to prevention of future demand on the NHS.' 👏 Health Secretary Wes Streeting highlighted the importance of rehabilitation in making the NHS work, following the launch of healthcare reforms and a social care commission in England this week. The latest NHS England reforms agree to implement many of the proposals the CSP asked to see in the upcoming 10 year plan - read more below.

Did you know that after the age of 40 we start to lose our muscle size and strength? Once we hit 40, our bodies increasingly find it difficult to build and maintain strength – in fact, our strength declines by 3-4% every year and our muscle mass decreases by 30-50% by the time we get to 80 years old! Our classes are small, bespoke with a fun and friendly atmosphere So, if you know you want to make a start on increasing and maintaining your strength to help improve not only your quality of life today, but also your future self, get in touch - don't wait until the new year! "From speaking to women in their forties and fifties, I have noticed that most of them have a good understanding of what the menopause is, unfortunately not everybody is aware that before the menopause, you enter the perimenopause. Without knowing at the time, being perimenopausal caused me to have issues at work and ultimately me having to leave my job. This was at the end of 2017/beginning of 2018 when the menopause, never mind perimenopause, was not spoken about widely and certain articles/books were not published yet. I had a demanding job and an unsympathetic female manager at the time who ended up ridiculing me and displayed bullying behaviour as a result of how I felt. I had an increasing amount of really bad migraines, joint pains, my memory got worse and I wasn’t able to concentrate very well. The migraines in particular caused me to have more days off sick than usual. What annoyed my manager the most, however, was that I would burst into tears for no apparent reason. She called it turning on the waterworks! Had I known then what I know today, I would have been in a position to handle my situation at work very differently. I am sharing my story so that nobody else has to go through what I did due to lack of knowledge about perimenopause. I would hope that workplaces are also more clued up about it by now and can support their female employees rather than scare them away" Is your workplace clued up? #womensupportingwomen #menopause #perimenopause #workplacesupport

Your body goes through a lot of changes during pregnancy as we know - physically and emotionally because of changing hormone levels, increasing bump size, postural changes, anxiety and reduced sleep to name a few! We are often afraid to return to exercise as we are worried about making the symptoms worse and struggle to find the time or energy with a new-born. We recommend giving your body time to recover usually around 6 weeks. During this time you may work on breathing exercises, pelvic floor squeezes and some basic strength work. Some will seek a mummy mot at this point to get advice on their recovery and how to return to further exercise. Seeking guidance of a postnatal training can help women regain strength and fitness safely and build confidence in exercise. It is recommended that generally you wait until 12 weeks before considering running this can however vary from person to person. You need to ensure you have built up pelvic floor and lower limb strength to a good level to prevent injury, leaking and prolapse. #postnatalfitness #postnatalexercise #womensupportingwomen #performbetter Amy Archer Physiotherapy #mummymot

During this active women’s awareness month, we are looking to remove barriers NOT create them, so let’s talk about pregnancy and resistance training. Staying active during pregnancy is obviously recommended for mum and baby, however, how do you know what’s safe to do? Research demonstrates resistance training is not only safe but also beneficial for pregnant women. Relevant research results demonstrates that appropriate prenatal resistance training can help alleviate some of the common symptoms of pregnancy, such as fatigue, back pain, and poor mental health. Resistance exercise can assist with: ➡ Glucose control in gestational diabetes mellitus. ➡ Decrease the risk of infant macrosomia and childhood metabolic dysfunction associated with uncontrolled gestational diabetes. ➡ Increase the likelihood of a vaginal delivery, which is beneficial for both mother and baby. ➡ Concerning foetal health, increases uterine blood flow, decreases the risk of neonatal macrosomia ➡ Improves cognitive function and metabolic health in childhood. (2024 Duchette et al) We aim to support women to continue to exercise during pregnancy through education, research and listening to women! We would always recommend that you seek professional advice from a women’s health physio and a qualified coach. 😊 #womensupportingwomen #PregnantLife #strengthtraining #performbetter @Amy Archer Physiotherapy
