We were thrilled to be finalists at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards on Saturday night for our Commitment to the Community. Morrison's Academy Pipe Band and CCF were honoured to support Crieff & Strathearn's Remembrance Parade on Sunday. This morning pupils and staff gathered around Academy Park in an Act of Remembrance in honour of the fallen. Following a parade by our cadets, a two minute silence was observed before our school captains read the roll of the fallen.

We're very excited to share that one of our former pupils, Caitlin Edgar, has been awarded the Ruth Bowden Award by BFWG (The British Federation of Women Graduates) for her PhD research on improving prosthetic limbs for children in low resourced environments. Caitlin, who left Morrison's Academy in 2016 and is a student in the Bioengineering Department at Imperial College London, has utilised advanced biomechanics to design a novel and affordable prosthetic knee joint which is now ready to trial with children in the UK. Last year, the former pupil was involved in the opening of the World's first centre for Paediatric Blast Injury Research in partnership with Save the Children UK. Last week Morrison's Academy partnered with Comrie Croft Bikes and Scottish Cycling for the 2024 Scottish Schools' Mountain Bike Championships. Around 400 pupils from 60 schools across Scotland attended the event making it the biggest schools cycling competition of the year. The talent on display was phenomenal and we congratulate the riders for their hard work and determination. After cheering on Morrisonian Charlie Aldridge at the Olympics this summer, we were excited to welcome him to our event to cheer on and inspire the pupils. Thanks goes to sponsors ALPINE BIKES LIMITED, Endura & Tradstocks - Scottish Stone - and everyone who helped to make this event so special. Congratulations to former pupils John Corbett (Class of 2023) and Archie Clark (Class of 2022) who were 2 of 16 pipers playing for the British UOTC band at the Basel Tattoo, the world’s second largest military tattoo.
