🔧 Mechanical Monday: A Day in the Life of a Mechanical Engineer 🚀 Hi everyone, I’m Chris, and I’m excited to share a little about what I do as a mechanical engineer on this #MechanicalMonday! Every day, I get to work on a variety of exciting challenges that push the boundaries of design, analysis, and optimization. Here's a quick look at some of the tasks I focus on: 🔍 Designing & Prototyping: A big part of my job is developing and refining designs. Whether it's creating a new mechanical system, improving an existing product, or designing prototypes, every decision counts. I use CAD software, and sometimes 3D printing to bring ideas to life. 🔧 Problem-Solving & Innovation: Mechanical engineers are often the troubleshooters. When a system isn’t working as expected, I dive into the problem—regardless of the root of it- and work through potential solutions, constantly pushing for innovation. 🔄 Collaboration Across Teams: A huge part of my role involves collaborating with electrical engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams to ensure the final product works seamlessly. Communication is key, and I love working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The work is challenging, but incredibly rewarding! Every day brings something new, and I love seeing the impact of the systems and solutions we design. #MechanicalEngineer #MechanicalMonday #Engineering #Design #ProblemSolving #Innovation #EngineeringLife

🔍 Ethics and Quality Assurance in AI for Engineering 🤖⚙️ Today, our team has been deep in discussion about the intersection of AI and engineering, especially when it comes to ethics and quality assurance. As AI continues to play a larger role in our projects, it is crucial to consider its impact on both the technical side and the broader implications for society. Here are a few key points we’ve been discussing: 1. Ensuring Quality and Reliability: AI can offer amazing efficiencies, but it’s vital to have strong quality assurance frameworks in place. ISO9001, for example, can have a lot of its tasks automated by using Artificial Intelligence and it has helped ensure more precise record-keeping for many companies. If an AI’s working must be checked, to ensure quality, could we trust AI to check another AI’s work? 2. Accountability in AI: One of the most heavily debated discussions has been about who is accountable when AI systems make errors. This raises questions around responsibility, liability, and how we can maintain human oversight throughout the design and deployment process whilst achieving the efficiency that we believe AI can help us achieve. Does the fault lay with the user or with the AI? Can AI be held accountable for its actions- if so, how? 3. Impact on Jobs and the Workforce : As AI continues to evolve, we’ve also had conversations about its impact on the workforce. How do we reskill and upskill our teams to collaborate with AI in ways that enhance innovation and create new opportunities? Should AI be treated as a training tool, or as more of a colleague? It’s clear that integrating AI into engineering offers incredible potential, but it’s essential to approach it with careful consideration of its ethical implications and the quality standards that ensure it benefits everyone. What do you think? Is AI going to help us evolve to a new level of efficiency, capability, and understanding? Or will it fail to reach the standards necessary, proving that sometimes the old way is actually the best way? #AIinEngineering #AI #QualityAssurance #Engineering #FutureOfWork

Today, on Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who served in times of conflict, and to remember the lives lost in the pursuit of peace and freedom. As we reflect on the immense sacrifices made by soldiers, veterans, and their families, we are reminded of the importance of standing together in the face of adversity and valuing the freedoms we often take for granted. It’s a time to recognize not just the history of war, but the enduring spirit of resilience and hope that unites us all. At MTC, we recognize the importance of honouring those who have given their all for our freedom. Today, we stand united in remembrance, paying tribute to the heroes who have shaped our history. Let us also take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to veterans and active-duty military personnel. Their selflessness is an inspiration, reminding us to strive for a future marked by compassion and understanding, and to uphold the values they fought to defend. #LestWeForget #RemembranceDay #Peace

🎉 Happy Mole Day 2024! 🎉 Why was there only one Avogadro? Because when they made him, they broke the Moled! 🧪⚛️ Today, we celebrate Amedeo Avogadro and his incredible contribution to science with the famous Avogadro’s number 6.02214076 × 1023, a fundamental constant that helps us understand the world at the molecular level. Mole Day is a fun reminder of the importance of chemistry in our everyday lives! Let’s take a moment to appreciate the molecular magic around us! 🌍✨ #MoleDay #Avogadro #Chemistry #STEM #ScienceIsFun #AvogadrosNumber
