Mule Studio

Mule Studio has traditionally focused on creating software as a tool to design and deliver bespoke projects - scripts designed to solve specific problems and generate data for one-off buildings or designs. In the last few years we have started to branch out and create software to be re-used on multiple projects and shared outside of the studio. The first to be launched publicly is a webapp we have created as part of Optoppen: building up with timber supported by Built by Nature Our goal was to create an easy-to-use, easy-to-access and fast app to help developers and policy-makers understand their opportunity to extend their buildings through the addition of lightweight, low-carbon roof extensions. We are launching the Optoppen platform and app this Thursday! A fun day in London yesterday, visits from Callum Sykes from Robert McNeel and Associates (TLM, Inc) and Iain 🏗💻 Sproat from Speckle. Not only lovely friends and old project partners but both really attentive representatives for their companies. Pushing us for feedback and striving to make their products even better. 👏 Also had the surprising pleasure of (semi-dubiously) accepting a bottle of champagne for "node of the year" at the Engineers Create exhibition from the magnificent Andrew Scoones. We helped model the connections and timber for the project but I believe what really impressed the judges was the clever fabrication procedures that combined laser-cutting with craftmanship.
