Back in March, digital marketing agency Distinctly (our next-door neighbours on London’s Featherstone Street!) very kindly chose Ovacome as their 2024 Charity of the Year 🎗️🏆 After learning about our vital work, they were eager to support our community – and support us they did! ✨ On 28 September, after months of dedicated training, a fabulous team of 12 from Distinctly joined 1,700 walkers and runners for the Chiltern 50k Ultra Challenge 💪👟 They braved 11 hours and 70,000 steps, fuelled by their determination (and numerous pastries!🥐) to raise awareness and the crucial funds that keep Ovacome's specialist ovarian cancer support services running 👏 The team’s incredible efforts raised a stunning £6,118.12 including Gift Aid, enough to fund a year’s worth of online support groups and workshops for six people facing an ovarian cancer diagnosis 💌 Their contribution will go such a long way in easing the isolation felt by so many 💙 Thank you Team Distinctly for giving it your all and showing up for our community. You’re all superstars! 🔥🙌 👉 If you’re part of an organization that might consider making Ovacome their Charity of the Year, we’d love to hear from you! Contact us at fundraising@ovacome.org.uk and help us continue our life-changing work 🎗️

The UK's national ovarian cancer support charity
About us
Ovacome is the national UK ovarian cancer charity focused on providing support to anyone affected by ovarian cancer. This includes those who have either been diagnosed with the disease or think that they might be at risk, as well as their friends and family and healthcare professionals. Ovacome was founded by Sarah Dickinson in 1996. Sarah had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and found that there were no resources and little to no support or information for women with the disease. She sat down with a group of likeminded people and Ovacome was born. We are a strong community of many thousands of people, all working together with the aim of reducing isolation, sharing information, promoting knowledge and supporting anyone affected by ovarian cancer. We provide a wide range of support services, including: - A telephone support line - Email, text, instant chat and Skype support - A 24 hour online forum - A programme of online meetings and webinars with expert speakers, designed to help those living with ovarian cancer to manage their diagnosis and the effects of treatment - Support groups - Regional support and information days - Health and wellbeing events - Expert information materials and resources We also run a highly successful UK Survivors Teaching Students programme, giving presentations and educating student nurses, doctors and specialists on signs, symptoms and experiences of women with ovarian cancer. We are the European representatives of this programme, which began in the United States. Ovacome campaigns to help those affected by the disease and health professionals to recognise the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer and for high quality care and treatment to be available to all. It was a real honour to host celebrated Bollywood and Netflix Star Manisha Koirala earlier in the month. Diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer a decade ago, Manisha is now using her platform to support others with the disease. It was inspiring to watch Manisha talk to Ovacome members Samixa and Preeti and a privilege to speak to her about our shared vision for equitable access to healthcare and diagnosis. Could you help us in this vision? Let us know by emailing ovacome@ovacome.org.uk. #ovariancancer #ovariancancerawareness #cancer #cancercharity #cancersupport
