💖 My Skin My Story turns 4, that's 4 years of connecting, empowering & elevating women of colour globally 💖 ✨ Take a look at the video I shared when we launched, my ambitions and why my story is just one of many. ✨ It has been a true gift to be the founder of this community. Running about 40 events so far, meeting women of colour around the world. Tomorrow night in London we celebrate this milestone (invite in the comments). ✨ I have seen this community bring women of colour together to find jobs, establish mentoring relationships, organise playdates with kids, find clients and build true friendships. ✨ I started this community as a way to embrace intersectionality, cultural difference and solidarity. To own our stories and give a stage to women of colour to share themselves without having to pick and choose which parts of their identity deserved sharing. ✨ We have spotlighted women of colour in all their glory, which includes their intersections with sexual orientation, disability, neurodivergence, religion, class, caste, age, mental health, physical health, family and more. ✨ And we will keep doing it! 💖 My Skin My Story is turning 4, join me for the London celebrations on Tuesday 25 June! 💖 ✨ This beautiful global community of women of colour became a reality in June 2020, because I was struggling to find a space where I could bring ALL of me. So I built one! Also 2020 was a tough time for many and we needed community, just like we do now. ✨ We will hear from some inspiring women in our community, but mainly it is about us connecting, sharing stories and speaking with each other. We welcome anyone who identifies as a woman of colour, new and familiar faces. Plus it's free! https://lnkd.in/gaGvjvFc ✨ We are experiencing so many challenges and heartache at this time, so this is a chance for us to come together, have a moment of joy, reflection, celebration but also activation to keep pushing for change.
