We agree with The London Standard that preventive health scans are not the only way to improve brain health. Consumers of healthcare are showing an increased appetite for non-invasive preventive health measures, and it is rewarding for us to be featured alongside other leaders in this space, like Neko Health. Louise P. outlines the key interventions that we all have access to for improved brain health: exercise, diet, and sleep. Our goal at MYndspan is to equip people with the personalized information so that they can understand where they are at (baseline) and track changes over time (as they age). Last month, we had the pleasure of welcoming six team members from BIOS Health Ltd to the Aston Institute of Health and Neurodevelopment (IHN) for their first MYndspan brain scans. BIOS is leading the charge in neural innovation, by turning neural signals into life-changing insights using AI. Their platform unlocks the power of the nervous system to deliver smarter and more personalised treatments for chronic diseases. With one of the world’s largest neural data sets, BIOS has developed tools already being used to improve wearable devices for managing chronic illnesses remotely. From Lorenz Wernisch, Machine Learning Researcher: “As a data scientist working with neural data, I’m impressed by the quality of the MYndspan pipeline. It seamlessly transforms raw MEG data and results from their clever and fun gaming tasks into a polished, insightful report. This combination of cutting-edge imaging and practical assessment offers a truly valuable perspective on current brain health.” From Matjaz Jakopec, Head of Software and Systems: “As an engineer, I can appreciate how much thought, knowledge, and hard work has gone into making this process so easy & straightforward for the clients.” It’s always exciting to get together and collaborate with those in the brain health and neurotechnology industry to speak about the future of the space, and the incredible advancements taking place. In the not-too-distant future, we will uncover neural biomarkers for a host of illness and diseases, develop and enhance personalised therapies, and shepherd in a future where we can prevent rather than cure. #BrainHealth #MYndspan #BIOSHealth #Innovation #Wellbeing

Concussions, often termed “invisible injuries,” can profoundly affect brain function, yet standard imaging tools often miss the neural disruptions they cause. MEG is changing the game - providing a non-invasive, precise method to detect, monitor, and guide recovery from concussions by revealing hidden neural dynamics. Explore how MEG is reshaping our understanding of brain injuries and uncover the latest research on its potential in diagnosis and treatment. 📖 Read the full post here: https://lnkd.in/e2wftyuU

Our recent study published in Imaging Neuroscience (The MIT Press) explores how the brain changes throughout the lifespan, providing insights into what healthy brain aging looks like and recognizing when it may not follow the expected path. Using advanced magnetoencephalography (MEG) technology, we can accurately track these changes over time. Even better, with regular brain health monitoring and simple lifestyle adjustments, you can take steps to slow down—or even reverse—some of these age-related changes. “I tried the world’s first £600 brain scan to find out my real brain age – here’s why I’d recommend it.” Sarah Sinclair from Stylist Magazine came in for her own MYndspan brain scan. "The experience has definitely made me more mindful of my own brain health. As someone with a long-term medical condition, I’m continually on the quest for a healthy body, but I’ve never even thought about nourishing my brain." Link to read: https://lnkd.in/gpZTSkSy

We are proud to announce that MYndspan has been accepted into the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) program! This nine-month program will provide expert mentorship and resources to help us accelerate our mission: to end preventable neurodegeneration through early detection. With CDL’s support, we’ll accelerate our efforts to bring brain scanning technology to the consumer market, empowering individuals with the tools to take control of their brain health early. Lifestyle modifications can significantly impact brain function and overall cognitive performance. This case study highlights the utility of MEG in providing objective evidence of brain health improvements, enabling individuals to make informed decisions about their lifestyle choices. “I now know what my healthy normal looks like when it comes to my brain. I’ve been able to spot when my lifestyle has negatively impacted my brain’s activity and course correct. I focused on improving sleep using ŌURA and minimizing alcohol consumption and was able to objectively see the positive impact on my brain’s function.” Link to read the full case study: https://lnkd.in/gnTTq3nw

Congratulations to Dr. Gill Roberts, who took home a prize at last week's MEG-UKI 2024 Conference for her poster highlighting our work on Parkinson's Disease. We have been able to identify Parkinson's from healthy controls with a high degree of accuracy using just a 5 minute MEG analysis. Contact us if you'd like to learn more about our Parkinson's Disease research.

Team MYndspan (Caitlin Baltzer, Emily Savundra, Gill Roberts, Samuel Hardy) checking in from MEG-UKI 2024 in Birmingham. It's been great to connect with the UK's leading MEG researchers and companies doing amazing things with this incredible technology. If you'd like to learn more about our posters and recent MEG findings, let us know. We're grateful for this platform provided by MEG-UKI to explore hardware development, analysis methods, cognitive neuroscience and clinical translation as it relates to Magnetoencephalography.

Join us tomorrow(!) at MEG-UKI in the Great Hall to explore our posters. Our team (Samuel Hardy, Gill Roberts) will be around to answer questions and chat about the implications of our work for brain health, aging, and neurological disease. Our Posters: 🧠 Brain Age Prediction: Using MEG data to predict brain age by analysing distinct age-related patterns in oscillations and connectivity, providing markers of brain aging. 🌐 Clustering Brain Health Profiles: Our work identifies neural subtypes linked to cognitive abilities and lifestyle factors, like alcohol use, that influence brain health. 🧩 Parkinson’s Disease Detection: This classifier distinguishes Parkinson’s patients from healthy controls, highlighting unique brain oscillation patterns, showing MEG’s diagnostic potential. 💤 Sleep, Cognition, and Brain Activity: Findings show better sleep and cognitive function align with specific high-frequency brain activity, suggesting a common neural profile.
