89 photography bookings in less than a year and still counting. 📈 Emmet C is a talented 19-year old photographer, one of many young creatives on the MyPocketSkill platform, with brilliant photography and digital skills. Emmet joined MyPocketSkill in 2023 and his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. From product photography to children's parties to weddings and professional headshots, he's built an impressive reputation in a short time.  Just check out the reviews… In his words: "𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐲𝐏𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥.” This is the kind of transformation we often see among young people across different verticals including digital & creative.  When presented with opportunities to test and refine their skills on real tasks, they grow their skill set, confidence and financial independence - doing what they love, earning well and gaining real-world experience in the field. 📈 According to government statistics, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 £125 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐊 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 2.4 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐛𝐬  -  but that is not the only reason it is important. It defines British culture and it exports it around the world, the U.K. is a leading global creative hub. By many accounts lack of funding and skills shortages among young people are the key challenges that the industry faces. And that is why MyPocketSkill is here - to provide a supportive environment to help to fix the latter by enabling young people, like Emmet, to harness their skills as young creatives and cement their interest in the sector (and, of course, deliver #financialeducation in the process). A lot to shout about. 📢 —------------------------------------------------------------------------- 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 13 - 25 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧, 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧, 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐮𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨@𝐦𝐲𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝐦 —------------------------------------------------------------------------- #skills #personaldevelopment #photographer #youngpeople ** Creative UK ** Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre

  • 💡 "𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫" – 𝐅𝐓 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐯 2024  💡 We're not surprised that 55% of young people aged 14-17 believe they should start learning about money in primary school.  Or that Cassius, aged 10 confidently suggested "Tax" when asked what primary school children wanted to learn about in an assembly about money. Just last week, one young person on our platform said "𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑰'𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓." As Alina Khan and Claer Barrett both highlight in recent articles for the FT, this demand for financial education from primary school children comes at a pivotal time when many are more aware of finances due to the cost of living crisis. But this is also an opportunity to foster a new generation of financially resilient individuals. Young people want to learn, and they’re eager to take charge of their financial futures—and we should embrace that! Which is why we're so pleased to be working on our new "near to peer" tutoring programme bringing financial education to primary school children across the UK.   Our forward-thinking approach will pair primary school students (aged 5 - 11) with older students who will teach them basic financial concepts in a fun and engaging way to ensure that even more children like Cassius get the long term money management skills they need. We have the chance to help equip today’s young people with the knowledge and confidence to thrive financially. Let’s work together to make financial education a priority and ensure our children are prepared for the world ahead. 🌍💰   #FinancialEducation #FinancialLiteracy #CostOfLiving #MoneyMatters #GenZ #GenAlpha #FutureReady FT FLIC | Financial Literacy & Inclusion Campaign ** Ufi VocTech Trust ** https://lnkd.in/eNt8i8Jp
