Green Hive ®

Green Hive is a dynamic local organisation which puts people, sustainability and protecting the environment at the heart of its work. The team and its many local volunteers deliver a range of services, including everything from beach litter picks, recycling plastics and textiles, invasive species management, e-bikes, to creating a wide range of re and upcycled custom hand-finished products. In March 2024, we announced our support for Green Hive's growth plans with a grant of almost £4,500 towards a new 1.5m2 plastics hot press machine. It’s believed to be the first of this particular size and kind in the Highlands, and enabled them to increase the variety of recycled plastic items which can be made at their workshop. Woof woof! 🐶 Another happy customer has received their Christmas present! Andrew from our Workshop has done an amazing job crafting this bespoke house sign, made from a piece of reclaimed wood. With our Workshop's CNC machine and skilled team, we can create unique, custom designs onto upcycled plastics or salvaged timber. Have a signage idea you'd love to see come to life? 🌟 Exciting news! We’re thrilled to welcome Lesley to the Green Hive team as our new Volunteer Co-ordinator! 🌿 Lesley brings over 35 years of incredible experience, working with corporate organisations, charities, social committees, and fundraising for local causes. She spent 20 years with NatureScot/Scottish Natural Heritage, working as their Building Manager for 13 years — a wealth of knowledge we’re lucky to have! A passionate crafter, Lesley enjoys exploring all things creative and is an active member of the Cawdor Women's Institute and various craft groups. She says: “I’m really looking forward to this exciting new challenge with Green Hive. I can’t wait to work with such an amazing team to achieve our goals together!” Welcome to the Hive, Lesley! 💚 🐝 ✨

🎄 Our Zero Waste Fabric alternative Christmas tree has been a hit—and for good reason! 🎉 Our talented Fabric team and dedicated volunteers have truly outdone themselves. 🌟 Every decoration on the tree was created using materials from our Zero Waste Fabric Store. The beautiful ‘paper chain’ effect was crafted from fabric sample books, giving them a second life. And that stunning star at the top? It was donated by Nairn's Sainsburys and lovingly covered in fabric by one of our amazing volunteers. What a creative and sustainable way to celebrate the season! 💚✨
