  • Why are we focusing our first product on osteoporosis? Our CEO, Dr. Will Briggs, discusses osteoporosis and why we've chosen it as our initial target for innovation. 1️⃣ The unmet need. Osteoporosis is a major, often-overlooked disease that places a heavy burden on patients and healthcare systems. The economic and personal costs are substantial, creating a clear need for innovative solutions. 2️⃣ Our expertise in musculoskeletal health. With our deep roots in orthopedics, we're well-prepared to tackle the complexities of osteoporosis and contribute impactful advancements. 3️⃣ A strong thesis for prevention. Prevention is better for patients and healthcare providers. By focusing on preventing fragility fractures, we can minimize the extensive costs and impacts of untreated osteoporosis. Osteoporosis, characterized by reduced bone mineral density, leads to fractures that have a massive impact on lives and the healthcare system as a whole. Our goal is to make an impact by focusing on prevention and early intervention. 🔗 Find out more about our work: naitive.com #BoneHealth #Osteoporosis #CompanyStory

  • "If we combine better screening, diagnostics, and treatment, we create a synergistic effect. This comprehensive approach can make a significant difference, and our passion lies in solving these issues." In this short article, our CEO, Dr. Will Briggs, discusses the imperative to redefine the care pathway in osteoporosis. #FracturePrevention #BoneHealth #Osteoporosis

Why focus on the care pathway as a whole? Because there are opportunities at every step.

  • 💬 Patient voices driving innovation At Naitive, our mission is to enable the early detection and effective management of chronic conditions like osteoporosis, helping people live healthier, longer lives. We are developing AI-enabled technologies that leverage existing data to identify osteoporosis earlier and close the care gaps in today's healthcare systems. Our bone health platform, OsteoSight™, automatically screens X-rays taken for other reasons to detect hidden signs of osteoporosis, enabling clinicians to intervene before fractures occur. This innovation is only possible with input from those who need it most. That's why we are honored to collaborate with the Royal Osteoporosis Society, with whom we have established a steering committee. This committee and its patient volunteers provide valuable input and feedback on our development through a series of regular meetings. They offer essential insights, particularly on how we communicate findings and the real-world impact of our technology. Two of the patient volunteers recently shared with us their thoughts on the project: 👉 Irene Baker, a Patient Volunteer, noted, "Osteoporosis is often diagnosed too late. The work Naitive is doing will potentially help with early diagnosis, meaning measures can be taken before bones are broken and lives are changed. Prevention is a key aim of the NHS and the Royal Osteoporosis Society, and I am pleased to be a representative of lived experience in a project that advances this agenda." 👉 Nic Vine, a Patient Volunteer, commented, "The use of technology to prevent ill health is crucial to the future of the NHS; I am pleased to represent the patient viewpoint in the work on identifying osteoporosis and fracture risk, as a patient advocate with Naitive Technologies and the Royal Osteoporosis Society." Patient feedback is essential to our development process, ensuring that technology like OsteoSight™ has patient benefit at its core. To begin with, the steering committee has been helping us expand OsteoSight™ to detect signals of low bone mineral density from chest and spine X-rays as part of our recently announced @Innovate UK-funded project. "We want to ensure that all decisions are made with the patient's best interest at heart," says Robert Fletcher, Project Lead at Naitive. #HealthcareInnovation #Osteoporosis #AI

  • "Primary fracture prevention is key." Our COO, Dr. Cat Kelly, discusses the importance of primary fracture prevention. "The first time many people realize they have osteoporosis is after they've had a fracture. Once that happens, fracture liaison services typically get involved in managing bone health assessments and osteoporosis care. Secondary fracture prevention is the standard, but we really want to move toward primary prevention – catching people before that first fracture happens." Private Orthopedic Practices (POPs) are on the front lines of musculoskeletal health, yet several factors currently make it difficult for providers to intervene before fractures occur: 👉 Lack of early warning signs for osteoporosis. 👉 Low uptake of osteoporosis screening programs. 👉 Limited patient awareness of osteoporosis risk factors. Primary fracture prevention isn't just about avoiding injury — it's about proactive care. With the right screening tools and treatments, like anti-resorptive and anabolic therapies, POPs can play a critical role in reducing fracture risk. By including physical therapists and other specialists that may be within their practice, POPs can provide a well-rounded, multidisciplinary approach that supports patient outcomes. • 🦴 Skeletons are for life, not just Halloween 🎃     As we enjoy the spooky decorations this season, it's a great reminder that your skeleton isn't just for Halloween—it's essential for your overall health! Halloween is actually the perfect time to think more about bone health. Why? Vitamin D. 🦴 Vitamin D is vital for bone health, as it supports bone mineralization and calcium absorption. Although present in some foods, it is mainly produced by the skin when exposed to sunlight. 🌅 In the Northern Hemisphere, the darker days of winter are approaching. As sunlight hours and intensity decrease, Vitamin D production also decreases [1,2]. ❄️ In one study, 24% of elderly subjects were found to be vitamin D deficient (<25 (OH)D nmol/L); however, during the winter months, that percentage leaped to 35% [3]. So whether you're out trick-or-treating or getting cozy indoors, take a moment to consider whether you're getting enough Vitamin D for healthy bones. Let's keep your skeleton strong and healthy all year round!  1. https://lnkd.in/eM2dV4jx  2. https://lnkd.in/e9rkb_-M  3. https://lnkd.in/ePRaMvp5 #BoneHealth #Halloween #Osteoporosis
