The National Cyber Security Centre has highlighted the importance of #CyberEssentials certification as a proactive measure to safeguard clients, barristers, and the integrity of chamber networks due to the increasing cyber threats faced by law firms and chambers. The Funded Cyber Essentials Programme has been expanded into specific areas within the legal sector until the end of March. It is open to all registered barristers or advocates and recognised barristers' chambers or advocates’ stables that meet the eligibility criteria. Last week we welcomed 30+ critical national infrastructure (CNI) defenders from across the Ukrainian Government and industry to our HQ for the Protecting Critical National Infrastructure Event - a weeklong programme funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office's Ukraine Cyber Programme. The event highlighted the UK's best practices in CNI protection while drawing on valuable lessons from Ukraine’s firsthand experience. Experts from NCSC, Cabinet Office, National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), Department for Business and Trade, Ofgem, Mandiant (part of Google Cloud), BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, Ukraine's SBU (Security Service of Ukraine), State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP) and NPC UKRENERGO (Ukraine energy company) shared insights on strengthening resilience. The event provided a vital opportunity for industry leaders to connect and collaborate. Stephen Doughty MP, Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories, and Richard Horne, NCSC CEO welcomed the delegation. The discussions urged both sides to drive up CNI resilience together, building on the iron-clad UK-Ukraine Security Agreement and the newly signed 100-Year Partnership. “NCSC, UK government and our industry partners remain steadfast in our commitment to Ukraine and the resilience of your CNI” - NCSC CEO Richard Horne to attendees on the continued dedication to stand with Ukraine.
