Did you get to see BikerTek at Motorcycle Live last week? Our bespoke and fully functional motorbike was created using medical grade titanium body parts highlighting the very real risks faced by motorcyclists on British Roads. A team of experienced and respected bikers who all have the very same components in their own bodies accompanied the bike. The bikers gave the audience the opportunity to hear their stories, opening important conversations about road safety. #MCL24 #Festival #MotorcycleLive

Road safety is, and will always be, our number one priority, and our ambition remains that no-one should be harmed while travelling or working on our roads. Trucks are essential for our economy and to improve truck safety we are working with Euro NCAP through the introduction of a Truck Safe rating because road safety is a shared responsibility. Euro NCAP - For Safer Cars, Vans & Trucks introduced its new initiative, the first-ever TRUCK SAFE assessment programme, focusing on Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) safety. This new initiative is a significant step towards the Vision Zero goal, aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Road safety is a shared responsibility. Working with partners and road users themselves we can collectively achieve our ambition that no one is harmed while travelling or working on our roads. #SaferJourneys#TRUCKSAFE hashtag#EuroNCAP hashtag#VisionZero

Our Historic Railways Estate (HRE) is a collection of over 3,100 structures and assets which were once part of Britain’s rail network. As part of HRE, work began on the beautiful Riddings Viaduct this autumn, located across the border of England and Scotland. The viaduct was built by the North British Railway as part of its branch from Riddings Junction, a station on the outside of Carlisle, to Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway. The line opened on 18 March 1864. Work being done on the structure includes: 🧱 Repairs to masonry and concrete 🏗️ Repointing of open joints 🔧Restoration to the parapet handrails All repairs are to be undertaken on a like for like basis using materials that match as closely as possible to the existing materials. If you want to learn more about Riddings Viaduct, follow the link in the comments section ⬇️

🌨️The icy weather has arrived which means our gritters fitted with snow ploughs will be back on the road. Here are a few things to remember as we move into icy conditions: ❄️Keep a sensible distance between you and the gritter ❄️ Pass carefully – only when it’s safe to do so ❄️Don’t use a hard shoulder – unless it's open for use as indicated by the overhead signs ❄️Don’t undertake – our gritters need to change lanes at junctions ❄️Reduce your speed and adapt your driving when conditions are severe Head to our website to find more helpful tips for travelling in ice and snow. ❄️
