🏡 Did you know... 🤔👇 Most building work and many types of home improvement work are “notifiable”, which means that you, your builder, or your agent must notify building control before work starts unless the work is carried out by installers registered with a Competent Person scheme who can self-certify that their work is compliant. When you are having work done to you property, you or your builder must notify your building control provider when you reach various agreed stages on site and request a site visit or inspection. At the end of the project, if no non-compliances have been identified, you will receive a Final or Completion Certificate. You’ll need this if you ever sell your home. It’s been two years since DGCOS - Double Glazing & Conservatory Ombudsman Scheme ran our first mental health survey in the industry. Since then, we feel the taboo has been removed and it’s more widely acknowledged that mental health is an issue in the sector and one we’re collectively working towards improving, although there is a long way to go. We would like to see if there has been any movement for Mental Health in our sector and understand if our perception is true with real life data on what’s happening in our sector. 🏡 Why #Ventilation is Important 👇👇 Modern #homes have become increasingly energy-conscious. We have blocked our #chimneys, added wall and #loft #insulation, draft-proofed, and double-glazed, and turned our homes into sealed boxes to save #energy. An average family #home creates 16 pints 🤯 of moisture per day from general everyday activities. But where does all this #moisture go? 🤔 Without the correct ventilation, this will leads to higher humidity and moisture levels which are unable to escape, creating condensation which then leads to damp, mould, and overall poor indoor air quality. Find out more facts and helpful tips and #advice in our free Doorstep Digest 👇 https://lnkd.in/dzJd9Udf #homeimprovement #ventilate #airquality #healthyhomes

🏡New report highlights growth in heat pump workforce needed to meet UK Net Zero Targets 👇 A new report released today by the Heat Pump Association (HPA) highlights the sector is on track to train the future heat pump installation workforce needed to accelerate the deployment of heat pumps in line with projected targets, but certainty and increased consumer demand are needed to encourage trained individuals to become active in the workforce. The report outlines that to meet the previous Government’s target of 600,000 heat pump installations per year by 2028, over 41,000 full-time roles will be needed across the whole heat pump workforce, rising to 122,000 by 2035 to meet the target of 1.6 million heat pump installations per year. NAPIT supports the new Government safety campaign addressing the dangers of buying faulty and unsafe electric bikes, electric scooters and components. The Department for Business and Trade has launched the “Buy Safe, Be Safe” campaign on Thursday (October 24). The campaign urges consumers to buy safe e-bikes and e-scooters and avoid rogue online sellers, encourages them to only buy safe products from reputable sellers, only replace items with products recommended by the manufacturer and finally to seek professional help when converting or repairing e-bikes and e-scooters. What is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and what does it tell you about your #home? An EPC tells you how energy efficient a property is and contains information about a property’s #energy use and typical energy costs. It also provides you with steps on how you can improve a property’s energy efficiency and save money. An EPC is valid for ten years. An EPC will provide your property’s current and potential energy-efficient rating if you undertake energy-efficient measures. Properties get a rating from A (best) to G (worst) and a score. The better the rating and score, the lower your energy bills will likely be. Find out more about EPC's in our free Doorstep Digest guide 👇 https://lnkd.in/eA6BnXHD #homeimprovement #epc #energyperformancecerticifate #energyefficiency #healthyhomes #propertyperformance #propertyhealth #doorstepdigest #consumerguide
