❗️ This morning (Friday 10 January) our partners at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) notified us of the sighting of two additional lynx in the Cairngorms National Park. Police Scotland have been informed and the Park Authority has offered ranger support to assist in the safe trapping of the animals. Members of the public are asked to steer clear of the Dell of Killiehuntly area as a build-up of people could disturb the animals and hamper efforts on the ground. The Park Authority condemns the illegal release of wild animals in the strongest possible terms and would urge anyone with information on the release of these lynx to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2179.

The Park Authority have been notified about a suspected illegal release of two lynx in the Cairngorms National Park. Police Scotland have been informed and are working closely with partners (including the Park Authority) to establish the full picture and take appropriate action. We condemn the illegal release of wild animals in the strongest possible terms and we are also concerned for the welfare of the lynx that have been released. Whilst they are shy animals and low risk to humans, we would ask anyone who does spot a lynx not to approach nor to attend the area. Instead, call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2179 of Wednesday 8 January 2025 when calling. As this is still an ongoing police investigation it would be inappropriate for the Park Authority to comment further at this stage.

We all benefit from connecting with nature. Since our #Cairngorms2030 nature prescriptions project launched more than 50 people have been prescribed nature based activities by local doctors and other health and social care workers in Badenoch and Strathspey, in partnership with NHS Highland. It’s not always possible or easy for everyone to know how to connect with nature to help them feel better - by offering a nature prescription it means that people have access to tailored support to access activities like social walks and forest bathing, or simple ideas on how to connect with nature day to day. This project was created through partnership and a desire to think outside the box. It’s about putting in place the right support so that everyone, no matter their circumstance or background, can access nature in the way that works for them and feel all the health and wellbeing benefits of doing so. The Cairngorms 2030 programme is made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund Scotland, thanks to National Lottery players. #NationalLottery30 📸 Louise Took

Truly excellent, if a little sad, article here on the frustrations and challenges of securing private finance for nature restoration work. This resonates for me and the Revere UK team. But we remain positive, with exciting things afoot for 2025. Author Neal Spackman (thanks for the share Ross Powell) https://lnkd.in/ei-FeMj2

🌍 The UK is currently facing extreme weather conditions: flooding, amber cold health warnings, and sub-zero temperatures. The climate and biodiversity crisis is undeniably real, but we all have the power to make a difference.
