Last week, we ran a Liberation Collective Workshop in Belfast with who are now founding members of the Liberation Collective! Thank you so much to everyone who came, it was amazing to be able to build this movement with such passionate activists 🩷 Over the next two weeks, we will be hosting more of these workshops in Bristol, Sheffield and Wales (online so all students in Wales can come). These sessions are open to any student or apprentice who self-identifies into one of our liberation groups: Trans, Women, Racialised, Disabled and LGBTQ. Whether you are new to activism or have been active in your community for years, please get involved to help us build a student movement truly centred around liberation. Alex, our Vice President Higher Education, talking about the solutions to the financial crisis universities are facing.
Earlier this week, I spoke to BBC Midlands on behalf of the National Union of Students (UK) about the funding crisis we are seeing at universities and how it is inextricably connected to the cost of living issues students are facing. I highlighted that the sector desperately needs public funding to ensure that higher education is accessible to everyone- supporting universities without increasing the burden of debt on students.
