Some words for DESIGNWEEK with what I want to see from our team at NB Studio this year. “Work conceived in play, not in a marketing report” I recently joined NB and was fortunate to find incredibly talented and kind people, and can only wish for them to be more of what they already are. What I would like to see, as always, is some great work. And by great, I don’t mean hyperbolic wishes of groundbreaking, game-changing, world redefining work or whatever other salesy word people tend to use to give more meaning to their lives. Chill. I mean work that has a point of view. That was conceived in play, not in a marketing report. Work that creates change, of course. May it be for an industry, product or just someone’s day. What a beautiful thing when we can make someone smile on the Tube. Just some humble, meaningful, beautiful, great work. —————— Let me know what you expect for the year on the comments. Before pressing play on 2025, we’re pausing for the Christmas break, taking the opportunity to rewind our favourite moments of 2024: 📈 In our second collaboration with Farmerline Group, we cultivated a data-driven identity and website for Mergdata Intelligence, planting seeds for sustainable growth. 🐙 We resurfaced forgotten tales of escape from the Kraken with the launch of the 'Legendary Survivor Series,' immortalising the heroic lighthouse keeper on pack and in activation. ⚡️ Wootz, a carbon innovation start-up got a new super-charged identity by NB, that cuts through the deep-tech sector with attitude. 📖 We launched Michael Wolff’s book, ‘Leap Before You Look’, designed by NB, with a sold-out event at D&AD. 🎤 Our founders and creative directors, Nick Finney and Alan Dye, shared 27 years of rule-breaking wisdom in their talk at the TypoCircle. 🏆 We brought home wins from the Shark Awards, ISTD and Brand Impact Awards. 📊 In year two of working with DEMICA, we created dynamic infographics and an impactful report that broke through the noise of bland business comms. ✅ We continued our partnership with Better Bankside, bringing their successful 2024 ballot campaign to life. 🥃 For Chivas Regal, we produced brand films for their latest luxurious whisky releases. 👬 Then, we welcomed 5 new NB’ers to fuel even more convention-defying, change-making creativity.
