Here's another little excerpt from out first Research Cultures journal, a written catalogues of ideas and references created in conversation with researcher Sam A. to distil our design thoughts and inspire us in future projects. This extract introduces a section 'Exploring the in Betweens' - a dive into those undefinable, imperceptible, metaphysical elements of how we experience our environment that give character and humanity to our everyday experiences. "A pedantic view of the world is painfully physical, literal - only concerned with what is ‘real’, actual, quantifiable. But so much more exists; arguably everything important falls between or outside of the physical ‘stuff’. The atoms are only us when they bounce off each other, so we are the atoms and we are also the space in between the bounce."

About us
Nebbia is a London-based International architecture and design studio led by Madhav Kidao and Brando Posocco. We create outstanding work for individuals, brands, cultural institutions and municipalities. We design buildings, environments, installations and objects that are visceral, thoughtful and distinctly unique. Rooted in experimentation, our process blends storytelling, craftsmanship and technology. We are driven by a fascination with the lived experiences of the past and narratives of the future. Our work is meaningful, memorable, and revolves around the human experience. We are excited by that moment where expertise meets romance, where our projects transcend conventional architectural boundaries. Drawn to projects that require research and unconventional solutions, our approach is one of passionate curiosity, critical thinking, meticulous execution. Nebbia is the Italian word for fog in reference to the beauty of losing yourself with no boundaries or horizons. It is your space to fill.

Earlier in the year we began to rollout our new branding and website, which we've been gradually implementing across all of our creative output and we wanted to share it here. We’d been thinking about developing a more representative and homogenous branding for sometime but it’s taken a few years to truly understand who we are and the identity we want to convey. We asked the amazing Studio Lowrie to design the rebrand responding to some of our big picture themes and are really thrilled with what they came back with. Nebbia is the Italian word for fog in reference to the beauty of losing yourself with no boundaries or horizons. The design plays with moiré patterns to create a dynamic logo that emerges and disappears with apparent endless depth. Studio Lowrie also designed our revised website, take a look here: https://nebbia.works/

Over the last couple of months we started collaborating with designer/researcher Sam A. to create quick, raw research journals. These journals serve as written catalogues of ideas and references on various topics, allowing us to collate our thoughts and build a rich source of inspiration for future projects. Our 'Research Cultures' papers are born from open-ended, far-reaching conversations and delve into themes that resonate with our design philosophy or concepts we're eager to explore further. Paper 1 — Learning/Growing/Thinking — explores ideas and references around ecological thinking and our relationship to the natural world. In the coming months, we’ll be sharing excerpts from these papers to provide insights into our thought processes, highlight what inspires us, and hopefully offer you a bit of creative inspiration in your regular newsfeed.

Our latest project Babylon, 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, is now live on our website! https://lnkd.in/eMscjq2H The installation is an exploration of monumentality, exuberance and absurdity. Its form builds upon Nebbia’s interest in contradictory structures, which appear to be concurrently primitive and otherworldly; solid and fragile. The installation explores how architecture in its most ancient forms has been universally used to understand and transcend the natural world to attempt to reach the skies both physically and metaphysically. Babylon is a 60’ x 60’ x 60’ site specific inhabitable artwork constructed from 64 individual blocks sprayed with a dark grey plant based cellulose insulation forming a singular monolithic tower made. The stacked assembly of blocks creates a cathedral-like interior void, projection mapped to create a kaleidoscopic cinematic environment. The visual storytelling of the film has been specifically curated to utilise the unique 360, multi faceted projection surface.
