Our External Speaker Webinar Series continued this month with an insightful session from Becky Kness, Business Development Manager and Rebecca Bridges, Rentals Manager, at Allied Mobility , and Sarah Butler, UK National Sales Manager, at Mobility Solutions UK, on how they help keep people who have suffered injuries mobile. The team from Allied Mobility shared their years of experience and expertise on mobility solutions and wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) providing valuable information on their services, including WAV hire (short and long-term) and purchase, of new or used vehicles, either privately or through the Motability Scheme, where the client is in receipt of the higher rate of either DLA or PIP. They highlighted how vehicle hire can offer flexibility and provide a stopgap for clients who potentially only require a WAV or adapted vehicle for the short term, are awaiting funds to enable a purchase or are not yet ready to take the step of purchasing such a vehicle. They are able to make recommendations on vehicles suitable for the client, complete licence checks, arrange open insurance and breakdown cover and provide a full demonstration on delivery of the vehicle, to ensure the client and their family/support team are comfortable with the vehicle and its features, within very short timescales, as little as two days! As the UK's leading manufacturer and supplier of adapted vehicles (adapting up to 150 vehicles per week) and the largest supplier of WAVs on the Motability Scheme, once a vehicle has been ordered they are able to avoid extended delays and lead times. Where funds are not available to enable private purchase, they are able to offer assistance with applying for a grant via the Motability Foundation. In addition, Mobility Solutions offers a range of mobility products, including made-to-measure chairs, active and passive wheelchairs, and scooters, and are able to offer dual assessments to ensure that a chair and vehicle are compatible with each other also. Utilising mobility products, services and funding arrangements can be vital for individuals with life-changing injuries, facilitating greater independence at home and in the community, fostering a sense of autonomy and boosting self-esteem. Ultimately, regaining mobility is a key factor in helping individuals rebuild their lives after injury, enabling accessibility and inclusion. A big thank you to the team at Allied Mobility & Mobility Solutions for enhancing our understanding of accessible vehicles and mobility products! #Mobility #Accessibility #Inclusion #Independence #CaseManagement

Yesterday, our Operations Manager, Will Lidstone, attended the "AI Immersion Series: IT Readiness for Copilot, Agents and Roadmap Features" at Microsoft's London office, for CIO & CTO teams, Copilot Programme Leads, Data Governance and Security Leads. The session featured talks from Microsoft experts, product engineers and specialists on essential topics and issues, including data protection and governance, deployment and engagement, integration, analytics, and utilising Copilot's current and future features. There were also hands-on workshops and peer discussions, enabling attendees to discuss real-world scenarios and challenges, whilst exchanging strategies with leaders from different industries to optimise Copilot governance, rollout and utilisation. With AI already beginning to reshape the way businesses work, it has the potential to be transformational across every industry, driving innovation, enhancing creativity and collaboration, increasing productivity and empowering smarter decision-making. However, as organisations look to deploy and integrate AI into their processes, the priority should always be responsible, secure, well-governed and ethical adoption. Through extensive planning, robust preparation and knowledge sharing with experts and industry leaders, we believe the utilisation of Microsoft Copilot within our processes will deliver significant quantifiable benefits to our clients, Case Managers and partners. #Innovation #Creativity #Collaboration #SmartWork #ResponsibleAI #MicrosoftCopilot #CaseManagement

🖥️🗣️Our External Speaker Webinar Series got off to a flying start for 2025 last week, as we welcomed the wonderful Victoria Anderson, Clinical Exercise Physiologist (AHCS), from Longevity Health and Fitness Ltd back, this time speaking to the team on “Rehabilitation and Patient Support - Clinical Exercise Collaboration” and explaining more about the role and aims of the Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP), when they would be introduced into the client’s MDT, and the benefits that they can bring to the client and MDT. 📝 Victoria discussed the difference between CEPs, personal trainers and Physiotherapists/Neurophysiotherapist, and how their input can be integrated. With CEPs, she emphasised that exercise intervention is a medical approach, prescribed with specific aims based on the client’s condition and focusing on overall health and long-term wellbeing, aiming to reduce the risk of secondary comorbidities. Whereas Physiotherapists/ Neurophysiotherapists are typically involved in the acute stage, CEPs are introduced once the client is clinically stable and medically optimised. CEPs provide the next step in rehabilitation, often coinciding with a graded reduction in physiotherapy. CEPs create relatable and transferable exercises, initially conducted in the client’s home environment to build comfort and confidence before transitioning to external settings. This approach integrates exercise into the client’s daily routines and real-life scenarios, promoting adherence and long-term maintenance. They therefore look to mimic real-life scenarios within the home environment, introducing exercises into ADLs to grade and introduce exercise outside of home, which benefits the client from both a rehabilitation perspective and also provides them with transferable skills they can take into the community. The replication of external environments within the home also supports a controlled introduction and exposure to external stimuli and environments, and can help with desensitising the client and building tolerance. Victoria stressed the importance of tailoring exercises to the client’s past activities, interests, and future goals. This personalisation makes exercises more meaningful and enjoyable, less like a ‘therapy’ session, so increasing the client's willingness to participate. CEPs also integrate MDT rehabilitation goals into their exercise plans, layering the benefits they provide making them engaging and beneficial. Building exercise into daily routines and educating support workers helps create consistency and confidence, enabling clients to see and feel the benefits of the exercises, fueling their motivation and progress. A big thank you, Victoria, for enhancing our understanding of the benefits of CEPs in addressing rehabilitation needs, reducing risks, and promoting long-term health…and for brightening up an otherwise cold and wet January morning! ☔🙌 #ExcerciseIsMedicine #LifeChangingInjury #PersonalisedRehabilitation #CaseManagement

What better way to kick off December than with a fantastic day of sharing, learning and laughter at our NeuroHealth company meeting and training day!📚🙌 In the morning, we had the huge privilege of welcoming Natalie Mackenzie, Founder and Director of BIS Services and Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapist, who gave us an in-depth talk on key considerations regarding ADHD and Brain Injury. We looked at both the prevalence and diagnosis (underdiagnosis) of ADHD, contributory factors, comorbidity, key features and differences between ADHD and ABI, family working as well as some interesting case studies. Natalie’s presentation highlighted the importance for clinical Case Managers’ to fully understand a client’s pre-injury presentation, and if any ADHD symptoms exist that these can be exacerbated by a brain injury and Case Managers, as well as MDT/health professionals working with the client, must be prepared for heightened issues during rehabilitation. Understanding the nuances between ADHD and brain injury is imperative to be able to support clients to manage both successfully, and this may often require adapting traditional rehabilitation strategies, processes and tools to get the best outcomes. In the afternoon, we welcomed the highly knowledgeable and engaging Victoria Anderson, Founder and Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Longevity Health and Fitness Ltd who provided us with an insightful talk on Enhancing Well-being for Case Managers and Clients. We looked at the importance of exercise in overall health and well-being, the role exercise physiologists play in the rehabilitation of injured clients in the community and why Case Manager well-being is interconnected with effective client support and successful outcomes. Serious injury rehabilitation can be challenging and demanding, requiring a Case Manager to manage a large number of priorities and coordinate teams and interventions, often under pressure, which is why it’s so important to not just focus on a client’s well-being but also the Case Manager's. A massive THANK YOU to our guest speakers for sharing their expert knowledge, insights and vigour with us! In addition to our guest speakers, our Managing Director & Case Manager Karen Rullo provided the team with a talk on Managing Complexities – Injuries, funding and family considerations. Our Assistant Case Manager team also presented on Planning and Preparing for Client Holidays & Travel, a topic that is so important in helping clients to enjoy leisure time with friends and family. And of course, we had the amazing Cristian Sirbu of iBalance Therapy, providing specialist chair massages throughout the day – keeping us feeling great both physically and mentally! Thanks so much, Cristian! The day was topped off with drinks in very festive surroundings! A wonderful way to end the year together!🎄🥂 #CaseManagement #Sharing #Learning #Teamwork

On Friday some of our team were fortunate to attend the BIS Services 2024 Conference on Pregnancy, Parenting & Brain Injury. It was an excellently curated day of presentations, panel discussions, case studies, and conversations with prominent professionals, individuals and families with lived experience on this crucial subject. The day brought into focus the complexities, challenges, and considerations in supporting brain-injured individuals and their families through the most personal of journeys, as well as how to implement a variety of tools and strategies into clinical practice to achieve the best possible outcomes. Supporting individuals who have sustained a brain injury, at all stages of their journey from pregnancy to parenthood, is a monumental responsibility and privilege of working in case management, and this was certainly demonstrated throughout the day. We look forward to next year's conference! Another exceptional event in a magnificent venue, organised by ABI Solutions, chaired by Sarah Griggs and sponsored by Irwin Mitchell. #BISCONF2024 #Pregnancy #Parenting #BrainInjury #CaseManagement
